Excellent Cloud Based Software

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We love it and recommend it highly

Pros:

This is the best software we have used for multiple doctors in multiple locations. It is also cloud based so we don't have to worry about a server going down or losing any information.

Cons:

There is no electronic signature availability for the patient file

Venango Technology Center

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I am using Curve Dental in a classroom setting and it has been wonderful. It is easy to explain and very user-friendly. It is easy for students to visualize and learn the basics of navigating dental software for the first time. It becomes easier and easier for them to build on different aspects of dental office procedures using the Curve software.

Pros:

I prefer how easy it is to understand and navigate the software. I also like that it is cloud-based and can be accessed from anywhere. I like that I can see when students log in, how much time they spent in each section and I can control which areas they have access to.

Cons:

The hardest part of this software is creating everything from scratch and inputing all the information once the training is over.

Alternatives Considered: Open Dental and Eaglesoft

Reasons for Choosing Curve Dental: Dentrix, while free for the educational version, was difficult to set-up with no actual patients. It was difficult to input pretend information and create fake appointments. There was no way to generate fake insurance claims or information and it was difficult to teach or make students understand what I was talking about when describing different office procedures. Also, the software could only be accessed from certain computers in the building and required updates almost daily. The updates almost always changed the layout of the program and/or required an update of the server. Also, the server could not be used while the updates were running.

Switched From: Dentrix

Reasons for Switching to Curve Dental: Eaglesoft was way too expensive and did not offer any educational discounts or educational options. Open Dental also did not offer any educational options and was not willing to discuss any other options with me.

A Hopeful Future

3.0 2 years ago

Pros:

The software is very modern and sleek. It is much better than serve based programs, and the stability is much better. Also, not having to worry about a server has been great. Treatment planning on it is great and most aspects for clinicians is great. While not perfect, the constant updates are great.

Cons:

The details is where this software needs to improve. There is a lack of true Dental Practice Management. There are some pie graphs and bar graphs, but the metrics are useless because they don't really link to anything and the whole interface is a bit confusing. I think Curve can really make a difference by integrating information that a program like Dental Intel provides. Other aspects of the program still seems like work in progress. I wish there was more support for Fee for Service offices. Also, please allow iPads to have full access to the site instead of the watered down mobile version. Or release an iPad app!

Curve Dental

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Curve is great to work with, the Support team are knowledgeable and quick to respond. The software is always advancing. Users love how easy everything is to use in the software.

Pros:

This product is extremely user friendly and easy to train inexperienced users. It is intuitive and visually simple and unintimidating.

Cons:

Reporting functionality is broken and slow. The reporting module was built in a way that you cannot filter the reports before running them. If you have a large database, this means the report times out, before the report even loads. It is extremely cumbersome. Also, you should be able to either see a description of the report or a preview of the report before running... So, you are not wasting your time running a report before you know if it is the correct data.

Alternatives Considered: Fuse, CareStack and Dentrix Ascend

Reasons for Choosing Curve Dental: Consolidated Cloud based software, that would give use access to the database remotely.

Switched From: Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend and Eaglesoft

Reasons for Switching to Curve Dental: Curve was the most user friendly, and the support/Implementation team was the BEST.

Frustrated. Not user friendly.

2.0 3 years ago

Comments: From a front desk and accounting standpoint, this is not the system to choose if you want something that is clear, concise and easily understood. It is confusing for patients, difficult for staff to navigate, and the whole process has been quite frustrating. Also, we got excellent phone support before we purchased. Curve customer service and the people who were assigned to our account were super easy to reach, and very supportive. After we purchased, though, it is a whole different matter. We are never allowed to be given a direct phone number to a supervisor or manager. We have asked for additional training, and have been told that 'nobody ever asked for that before' and that it simply was not an option. If I had to do it all over again, I would not consider Curve.

Pros:

It is a dental software. I do not have much more to say that is positive.

Cons:

There are many, many features that are simply not available in Curve, from coding and charting issues to the way we run our AR and other financial reports. The support we receive from Curve is minimal, and most times does not help us fix the situation at hand.

Alternatives Considered: Dentrix Ascend

Reasons for Choosing Curve Dental: We opened a second practice last year, so we needed something cloud based.

Switched From: Dentrix

Reasons for Switching to Curve Dental: I was not involved in that decision.

Thank you for your feedback. We offer a toll-free number that we answer in under two minutes which will be much faster than calling a supervisor or manager. If the support person cannot answer your question, they will involve their manager to resolve the issue. We also offer additional training options. A response for more training is directed to our implementation team to schedule the training. We also offer articles, training videos, and more available in Curve Community which you can access at any time. You can also forward your contact information to us so we can connect with you directly.

Curve has been an asset to our office

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Curve has been an asset in our office and has made our day to day operations easier.

Pros:

Curve is very user friendly and easy to use. Constant updates on the system help to make it easy to use and the customer service is top notch. I feel that they really listen to their customers. Curve did take a little bit to get use to but we were coming from paper charts and hadn't used any electronic charting before.

Cons:

The billing module and statements could really use an update. I feel they are more difficult to read and understand by the patients.

Alternatives Considered: Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft and Easy Dental

Reasons for Choosing Curve Dental: We were looking for a web based system that gave us most of what we wanted from a software and was easy to use.

Switched From: SoftDent a Sensei product

Reasons for Switching to Curve Dental: Curve gave us more of the features we were looking for at a great price.

Happy we switched to Curve

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Charting, patient communication, and reporting are outstanding. Also very happy I can access patient charts, xrays, and reports from my phone any time, anywhere.

Cons:

The transition with billing and accounts receivable were difficult. Getting the insurance billing mastered took some time which caused a lag in insurance reimbursement. Prepare financially before making the switch!

Alternatives Considered: Dentrix Ascend

Reasons for Choosing Curve Dental: Dentrix was becoming too cumbersome and we wanted to begin phasing out our on-site server.

Switched From: Dentrix

Reasons for Switching to Curve Dental: Better customer service and Curve is 100% cloud based.

Customer Service is Slow if you have Billing Questions

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I've realized cost savings with Curve but they still have some kinks to work out. If you aren't from the USA, definitely keep an eye on your billing and make sure you aren't being billed in US dollars and CALL IN new credit card numbers.

Pros:

Cost is reasonable which was a big one for me, setup is easy and it's easy for staff to learn how to use Curve.

Cons:

It's impossible to reach the billing department. If you call (and it's not a product demo or purchase) you get directed to leave a voicemail and in my experience I didn't get a response for 24 hours (but suddenly did after saying I'd be writing about my experience on social media). If you update your credit card online, you are automatically charged in US dollars. Apparently, Canadians are supposed to read some small print somewhere that says "Canadians must call to update expired credit card numbers". I missed the small print and was paying in US dollars for months before noticing the fee was up $200/month with the exchange. I find it hard to believe that a software developer cannot come up with a better solution where there are different ikons to click for customers of different countries to update their credit card number. It takes so long to get through to the billing department that calling is definitely an annoying issue. Curve needs more folder functionality; if you see patients for several years you end up with a long list of letters for anything you scan in such as insurance responses, estimates you have provided, patient medical history, etc. It really adds up after a few years and becomes difficult to locate amongst hundreds of letters. Also when your internet server goes down or Curve goes down you are in trouble because you have no way of seeing your notes or the medical history of your patients.

Depends on specialty of the office.

3.5 10 years ago

Pros:

It's so user-friendly and you can adjust settings so easy as well.

Cons:

I think it's too easy to schedule appointments on top of each other. The billing is not easy to read, because it separates it by transaction, and then the transaction is no longer visable after it's paid. There is no way to select a procedure not to be billed to insurance in a billing transaction. You cannot transfer credits between family members in the same account. The tabs in the charting can be confusing as well. I think all existing, and current treatment plan should be together, not separated. You cannot keep track in the charting what was diagnosed when, because it deletes the date when the treatment is completed. There are too many placed where the fee schedule can be adjusted to allow for mistakes later. If the insurance is modified, the treatment plan has to be deleted and re-entered for the patient to be correct. I don't see a point in tags in the appointment when it doesn't enter the procedures in the appointment title. It seems like a lot of work to schedule an appointment, because you have too many options. The entry of birth dates is harder than it needs to be. Emails cannot be used in more than one person's profile. Cancelled claims should be able to be deleted from the system. It's confusing when auditing past due claims. There is no way to input how much maximum is left on a patient's insurance for treatment plan purposes. Treatment plans don't factor in secondary insurance coverage. Scanned documents should be able to be grouped in files and letters instead of making a separate entry for every page. Charting on the teeth is too sensitive.

Curve Dental Response

We appreciate Raquel's comments. She brings to light a number of topics we'd like to address. - Scheduling Appointments. The flexibility of our scheduler does allow you to schedule on top of other appointments. Long-time customers have not found this to be a negative; however, we understand Raquel's concern and are taking steps to modify this functionality--quite soon, actually. - Invoice Accounting vs {WHAT DTX AND ES USE}. Curve Dental uses invoice accounting, which has many advantages. Because most of the dental profession is using older management systems that display information in other ways, our new customers may find Curve Dental's accounting style a little different. Once proper training is completed our customers see the advantages of invoice accounting as it presents a more logical grouping of billing information. Specific to Raquel's comments, paid transactions are hidden after 30 days to make more efficient use of space, but with two clicks all transactions can be viewed. - Billing to Insurance. If there's a particular procedure you would rather not bill to insurance, you simply omit that item in the insurance claim. - Transferring Credits Between Family Members. If all family members share one responsible party, then yes, credit can be shared between family members. However, if the family members have different responsible parties, then one account would have to be refunded and the other credited, which can be done quickly. - Displaying Existing and Current Treatment. Graphically, existing treatment and the current treatment plan can be viewed at the same time. Line-by-line details can be viewed for either existing procedures or planned procedures by clicking on the corresponding tabs in the chart. - Diagnosis Date. If you're concerned about the date that a procedure was diagnosed, you can access a quick report to retrieve that information; it is not deleted. - Fee Schedule Adjustments. Fee schedules can be assigned to a specific patient or when setting up an insurance plan (which determines how the insurance portion is calculated). When creating a treatment plan, you also have the option to select a different fee guide, but the default is the fee guide initially assigned to the patient. - Modifying Insurance. Currently, you do not have to delete and re-enter a treatment plan if you need to change insurance information. - Birth Date Format. We have received a few comments on how the birth date is entered (which is yyyy-mm-dd) and plan to allow our customers to adjust the format to one more customary to their area. Obviously a minor concern, but one that will be addressed. - Unique e-Mail Addresses. For security purposes, Curve Dental does not allow an e-mail address to be used by more than one patient. Curve Dental's patient portal provides patients with access to account information, future appointments, and more. To protect this information, a unique e-mail address is required to access the data. Of course, the responsible party can access information for all members of the family. - Deleting Cancelled Claims. In the interest of providing one more deterrent to fraud, we strongly believe that cancelled claims should be a permanent record in the patient's account. As a result the display of the patient's account may be a bit more busy, but not confusing. - Entering Insurance Maximums and Factoring Secondary Insurance. Currently, Curve Dental does allow you to enter coverage used outside of the practice or software, helping our customers gain an accurate insurance estimate. And our software does indeed take into consideration secondary coverage when calculating the insurance portion. - Scanned Documents. We have discussed ways to improve the organization of scanned documents and will make a change. - Sensitive Charting. Curve Dental has two charting modes. One lets you drag the mouse over tooth surfaces to select the desired surface. The other mode requires you to enter the surfaces in a more old-fashioned style. Some may find one mode more preferable over the other.

Let's Smile loves using CURVE Hero and CURVE Gro

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: We LOVE Curve Dental!

Pros:

The customer service is outstanding. When the dental team has a question on a certain topic, they go to the Curve Community and easily look up the topic. The instructions are easy to understand step by step directions. We also love that this software is cloud-based. We travel throughout SE Minnesota into school-based dental clinics. This software allows us to access patient charts no matter where we are located in our outreach progra.

Not pleased.

2.0 8 years ago

Comments: I have been using this software since 2012. It has been a struggle. The reports are very sub-par. I have two offices and spend a lot of money with these guys but that does not get me any sort of special treatment. Just to give you an idea of how bad the reports are...there is no report to indicate the number of new patients per month. The closest you can get is new patients "created" but this would include no-shows. I asked for a special custom report to be made for my uses with NP's, referral sources, production from referral .....DENIED. They said more or less "maybe they would get to that at some point in the future....thanks for the suggestion". If I could easily switch I would do it, but it is not I won't even get started on how often their servers go down.

Pros:

It's prettier than most software.

Cons:

-Reports are a joke (and reports are the life-blood of a good practice management software) -Servers go down a lot -If you lose your internet you are also out of luck -Customer service is slow and not helpful -They nickel and dime you for add on's. Bridge to xray software...$$; E-prescribe....$$$, store x-rays....$$$$$

Curve Dental Response

Hi, Dr. Mapes! We¿re sorry we failed to meet your expectations. But that means we¿re going to try harder. For example, our reports can be customized to show nearly any data. That you did not find what you wanted means we need to look at the interface and training. Specific to a NP report showing referral sources and production from referrals: We can do that, but obviously we can make it easier to get this information. Curve Dental is the only cloud dental software that publishes performance on its website (www.curvedental.com/status). Our uptime number is 99.99%, which means our service is nearly always available. You think otherwise, so we need to work on that remaining .01%. We were surprised by your customer service comments. In an independent survey, 70% of our customers said our service is better. We¿ll continue to improve until that number is 100%. Were we disheartened by your review? Absolutely. Are we going to give up on you? Never! Thank you for your comments and best wishes!

Easy to use and Customer Service is top notch

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

The software itself is user friendly and easy to navigate, and any issue we've ever had is solved within a day. The addition of Curve GRO has been a life saver as we were having to double notate everything in correspondence with our old program. The ability to edit and create different reports has helped so much in terms of business analysis and patient management.

Cons:

I do wish there was a way to make certain fields of patient forms "Required" and that the self scheduling could be pulled from a block of rooms rather than one room as we often overlap and forget to block off the room it pulls from.

Modern, intuitive, functional, always available anywhere

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: It's our day to day dental office operations software and we use it for everything. It sends letters and reminder emails and texts and it schedules Patients. It records everything related to treatment, x-rays, pictures, notes, charting, perio charting and is our way taking care of our Patients and our office. It replaced old Dentrix and Demandforce for us

Pros:

It looks like a software that was designed today, as opposed to most dental software that looks like Windows 95! It is clean, easy to use, functional and it actually makes sense. Very helpful in day to day dental office operations, simple interface with everything you need right in front of you. Always available everywhere you can open a Chrome browser.

Cons:

You have to change your mind set if you are used with other clunky software, this one is really easy to use. It's hard to believe things are so easy to do at the beginning. Recently they updated the user roles and permissions and they are confusing now. Also the transition from Dentrix was smooth, got the x-rays and pictures but it didn't transfer the files, we had to copy those manually as Patients had appointments. It's a one time thing but it's worth it

Comments: I enjoy Curve Gro. Additionally, customer service has been great and I enjoy the Curve Community option for problem solving.

Pros:

I enjoy that imaging is on the same software.

Cons:

It is not very clinically centered when it comes to moving from treatment plans to notes, etc. I also HATE how you cannot right click on an appointment after it has been closed. It takes me 4-5 clicks to get to the area where I need to type my note. It would be super beneficial to be able to right click on a closed appointment and immediately get to the notes. It's also a pain to not see notes automatically; each patient is automatically under a certain type of note so if you want to see them all, you need to change what is viewed with each new patient.

Smooth and easy transition from Old School Practice Management Software.

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: Cost, Efficiency, usability.

Pros:

This is a complete solution to meet all Practice Management needs which is great but as this software is a cloud solution it is just like your Facebook account, Instagram, email etc, it is alway available right there where you need it and it works as it should but in a modern, more efficient way. It's quite intuitive and it is always trying to help you to achieve your goal. We've yet to encounter a gap a business process that is not covered. The Add-ons with Bluefin and Fast Attach function exactly as you would expect and work seamlessly. We're a brand new office and we've leveraged Curve for Practice Management and G-Suite (from Google) to manage email and documents. Doing this has allowed us to forego a any local server or even any network wiring, simplifying and reducing the cost of the build out. Both training and support have been great and they are never shy to quickly remote to your screen to quickly resolve any issue you may have. As for cost, by any metric it has to be cheap given you there is no installation or hardware cost and as it is cloud software upgrades are seamless and inherently free. To address the main counter argument of a cloud solution we are in a south Florida and during the last Hurricane, Irma, we had no risk of any server being flooded of course but once the storm was over and Comcast was still out we simply switched on the hotspot on the phone and we were up and running!

Cons:

The Kiosk facility where Patients can can fill out their forms directly into Curve is good but you can see they are still building it out.

The ease of which one can email a receipt to a patient. Ease of scheduling. The playbook dashboards

Cons:

1.User are unable to make a correction in billing all at once. Right now with each correction it closes and then the user has to open it to correct the next line. 2.Route slip are unavailable. Would be nice even if just online with no printing. 3. The ability to print one visit of a treatment plan does not exist. The user needs to move the treatment to another plan if they wish to just print it alone and then move it back. 4. Unable to integrate with a third party collection agency so they real time data is not available. 5. Fee guides cannot be updated as claims are paid per an individual patients plan. 6. I would love for the ledger to have an option to have a line by line view (just like it would show in an account book) as opposed to clicking each visit to see what was done on that day.
