EFI's Radius Integration for EDI

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: We are pleased to have developed relationships with the folks at EFI and looking forward to continued success with their clients in the future.

Pros:

Both of our EDI implementations integrated in and out of EFI Radius were a success. As a reseller for OpenText's ECS/Delta solution for EDI, we have utilized these tools to supply EDI customers with information from both the automated flat file import/export functions of Radius and the direct database access to either load EDI orders into Radius or generate EDI Advance Ship Notifications and Invoices back to the customer. As an automated process, customer service will soon have the ability to utilize an EDI Dashboard to correct exceptions allowing failed transactions to recover automatically thru their intervention. We look forward to importing forecasts to take advantage of the MRP Module in the future.

Cons:

It took us a while to understand what was in each module. Eventually finding components made sense.

Radius Gone Wrong

1.0 4 years ago

Comments: My overall experience with EFI has been terrible. Buying this product is the single worst decision I've made in my career. I literally wake up in the middle of the night wondering what problem my organization will have in the morning. The installation and setup was wrong from the start and we've been trying to dig out of that mess since July of last year. Each time a consultant shows up to try to fix something, we end up with more problems requiring more "Professional Services".. I feel like I'm being scammed all the time..

Pros:

I liked the demo obviously, as I made the mistake of purchasing the product.

Cons:

There are so many things I dislike about this software it's hard to pick the thing I like least. But probably it's the way Radius is cobbled together - all these bolted on apps that barely work together, haphazardly assembled with no real attention to how users interact with the forms. 20 different ways to do the same thing with no guidance or instruction on why someone would use one workflow versus the other.

Works, but not without outside support

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Customer service is very poor. Technical support is very poor. Communication at the customer level is extremely poor unless pushed heavily.

Pros:

Supports Packaging workflow, modules are self-explanatory. Classic layout was nice with multiple un-docked modules without covering a full screen with background menu

Cons:

Does not integrate all of our needs. 80% of what we need to have done is out of this software, either through Crystal reports, or Excel. Very clunky on import/export.

Expensive and underpowered

1.0 4 years ago

Comments: Painful. Users describe their time using the software as "punishment". I have implemented several boxed ERP solutions and this one, by far, was the worst and longest lasting go-live experience.

Pros:

AC4D and PSA are actually pretty good as stand alone software.

Cons:

Radius is comprised of old antiquated software, has issues communicating with other integrations, and multiple disconnect issues that bring production to a halt. Frequently throws unhandled exceptions leaving administrators digging through the lacking "community" for answers. If you implement this software, I highly recommend writing your own wiki for issues as it will save you time. It does not integrate well with it's financial component and requires users to often do double entry. The maintenance fees for this software incredibly overpriced for what you get. When an error is made in data entry, you have to go through many steps and returns to fix. We often go weeks waiting for resolution on issues within the software and on-site visits are very expensive and have also left us with issues not resolved. This is software installed on your hardware, they do not offer a cloud solution. You are also responsible for the hidden costs of licensing SQL servers and physical hardware or selecting a cloud hosting vendor and all the licensing and fees associated.

Challenging relationship/support

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: I am disappointed in the support that EFI provides. They have never had enough resources to be able to help all of their customers in a timely manner. Even though we've been on Radius for over 5 years and are very knowledgeable, any time we submit a support ticket we're treated as though we didn't take the proper steps to troubleshoot the issue before coming to EFI. Also, every upgrade that we've gone through has been a nightmare as we never work with the same person, and/or steps are missed on EFI's side. Nor is there clear-cut documentation on what has to be done infrastructurally on the customers end.

Pros:

This system is beneficial if every person that touches it completes all steps perfectly. This is somewhat of a pro and a con, as we know that you can't expect everyone to do everything perfectly every day.

Cons:

The biggest complaint that I receive is how many steps every task takes in Radius. It is very overwhelming to most when they're being trained on how to use EFI products.

Satisfied customer - but took a long while to get there...

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: Started out very frustrated. We are now functional. We can manage our business with it. It does some things better than our prior (homegrown system) and many things worse. Overall we are slightly better off with the new system for legacy reasons (business is changing) - but financially worse off as a result.

Pros:

It handles all of the aspects of our printed packaging business. Not always well, but it's functional and lets us do many things.

Cons:

It's a cumbersome beast wired together from a bunch of separate packages and the integration is sometimes problematic. Configuration is horrible.

Gets the job done with no bells or whistles

2.0 4 years ago

Pros:

Radius is a software made specially for the packaging industry with limited integrations with other industry tools. If you stay within the set limitations of the sotware you can get the

Cons:

Old software with little change between versions. Database used is old and done not use normal conventions. UX/UI is unintuitive and UI design consideration is almost non-existent. Support is compartmentalized so few people understand issues involving multiple parts of the suite. Installation is impossible without radius support. No modern API.

Radius 8

3.0 4 years ago

Pros:

Good data collection, connects most departments,

Cons:

GUI is outdated and cumbersome, viewing and searching the data is tough to do in Radius, Notes can be entered in to a record but almost impossible for another user to view, hard to give users access to view records without also giving them access to edit records, doesn't integrate to our Prepress department, viewing reports on-screen prevents all other actions until the report is closed,

Radius review

4.0 4 years ago

Pros:

The product is relatively easy to use, and it has several controls that are specifically related to the printing industry, which is helpful to integrate in our processes (flexo printed and blanks label converting)

Cons:

The interface feels outdated and the UX could be improved, like counter-intuitive tab order in some modules, or no drag-and-drop functionality to reorder columns, for example

Comments: BI related issues and backflushing of coatings setup. It has been a slower response than I would expected and wanted.

Pros:

It's easy to understand and use. Fits in with our business model and production of our goods.

Cons:

Hard to troubleshoot errors. Wish there was more detailed explanation of certain known errors and how to resolve it such as list of known error codes and possible solutions within Radius Help function.

Needs an overhaul

3.0 4 years ago

Pros:

Flexible and functional. Covers nearly the entire spectrum of activity within the organisation.

Cons:

Steep learning curve and antiquated UI. Accessing the software outside the company network is difficult. Needs a mobile app that can be used to log in to our server and view data. Feels like a legacy software. Mobile-access and a way to move the software to the cloud should be worked out by EFI and rolled out to users, apart from the much-needed UI updates.
