Solid, reliable servfice

5.0 last year

Pros:

I previously ran Asterisk PBX locally, with a variety of VoIP trunk providers. Worked great, until it didn't. VoIP.ms was a near drop-in replacement for hosting things locally, I was able to port nearly all numbers (and a couple numbers that couldn't be ported are handled using VoIP's SIP address based routing, giving me the same call routing capabilities). It was everything I needed.

Cons:

There is a learning curve to the interface, and the terminology is not always a 1:1 with Asterisk, or my own past telco experience. Nonetheless, once I found my way around the interface, it all makes sense and works great!

VOIP.MS is inidispensable

5.0 last year

Comments: The more I use it, the more I like it.

Pros:

My phone is available anywhere in the world, wherever I have an Internet connection,

Cons:

The voice mail speech to text to e-mail breaks short messages into several e-mails.

Lost trust

2.0 2 years ago

Comments: Without warning, we were charged 40c a minute for our calls instead of 1c a minute as had been for many years previously. Furthermore the customer support was terrible, and did not consider it a complaint, merely stating it was someone else's responsbility. So we switched all our calls to another provide that still charges in the 1-2c range.

Pros:

We have been using VOIP.MS for well over 10 years. Until recently it was (a) value for money and (b) highly functional.

Cons:

Failure to inform us of a forty-fold increase in price.

We truly value your loyalty over the years and regret that we fell short of your expectations this time. We understand your frustration and assure you that our team is working diligently to continue to be the most cost-effective VoIP provider, even though we don't have complete control of rates. If you have any further comments, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected]. We are committed to providing the best service possible and would welcome the opportunity to regain your trust.

Best VOIP In Town

5.0 last year

Comments: Outside of the DDOS attack it has been the best service around. I have tried many others and they are either more expensive or very difficult to setup properly with our PBX system.

Pros:

I have looked over all the VOIP providers and checked price. They are the lowest and easiest to setup.

Cons:

The only thing I didn't like was when they had the DDOS attack and my phone lines were down and we did not have any alternative.

Low cost and very performant solution

5.0 last year

Comments: It was easy to integrate older and new devices into the system with no real issues or support.

Pros:

One of the best features of VoIP.ms are the well documented and explanatory Wiki pages allowing to start from scratch new projects with very little support.

Cons:

When navigating the website, it seems that you need to re-enter your user credentials quite often. May be this is needed for security issues to protect hacking.

Customizable experience for your users, if you have a little know-how.

5.0 last year

Comments: I would say VoIP.ms is the perfect service for a somewhat-experienced consultant or employee to deploy a customized VoIP solution for their customer/company.

Pros:

VoIP.ms gives you power tools and "just enough" customizable features to deploy unique solutions for your customers, but you don't have to learn the guts of Asterisk or another overly complicated phone system.

Cons:

There is not a ton of polish in the admin UI, so it can be confusing sometimes.

My company couldn't survive without Voip.ms

5.0 last year

Comments: Overall excellent experience. We started with Voip.ms when I needed to redirect calls to multiple devices when an employee was off. The local phone company could not offer this service.

Pros:

That incoming calls can ring on multiple devices simultaneously

Cons:

Initially because of our location in a non-mainstream country Voip would not accept card of PayPal prepayment from me, only direct bank deposit, but this has now been resolved.

Highly recommended

5.0 last year

Pros:

We got ourselves setup with voip.ms with only a little effort, and it has ticked along with no problems for the last three years, saving us $50 a month over POTS.

Cons:

If I had to pick anything, it is that tweaking configuration to handle different mailboxes, or routing, was a bit fussy, but we ended up not using it. Very minor to the base use-case.

Solid VoIP provider with great features at reasonable prices.

5.0 last year

Comments: VoIP.ms has been one of those services that we set up many years ago and except for minor tweaks to how it is configured to adapt to changing business processes on our end has been entirely a set it and forget it type of service. It just works day-in and day-out.

Pros:

Setup was quick and easy with instructions provided for most VoIP gateways, with many trunking locations to ensure low latency and jitter free connections. Number porting and call routing is intuitive and quickly performed.Pricing is very competitive and has significantly reduced our costs.

Cons:

The interface site is dated and not up to modern UI standards. This is a minor gripe as the functionality is all there, and can be easily found which far outweighs “pretty UI’s” that lack functionality.

Very Good service

4.0 last year

Comments: been with them over 10 years, and its been overall pretty good- it is glitchy at times and a bit more hands on than say Twilio- where I have not had any issues with connectivity.

Pros:

Easy to set up IVREasy to buy DiDsGood pricing on new Dids and month to month feesHappy with them but I do have pretty low volume calls with them and the numbers I have with them are not "mission critical" -support can be outstanding to sub marginal, depending on who you get. -have made many improvements over the last year-pricing where voip should be for a small business. -has TLS encryption where most voip providers don't

Cons:

-texting (SMS/MMS) could be better setup and out of beta, as it is 2023 already, come on guys really. -they should really have a app they made that can manage and that users can call and text with. -slow to roll out improvements-could have better higher quality codecs-could have STUN servers to use. -a multi week DoS that they handled very badly couple yrs ago-still not 100% about the back-end of the company- would not use for a business doing over a $1m in -revenue a yr unless you had a backup provider. -not innovative like Twilio, you are not going to find any integration with AWS and polly or advanced things like this.

Amazing service, for some of the best prices in the industry

5.0 last year

Comments: A great service, a great support team, and loads of features with great compatibility, all for an unbeatable price! Some knowledge and skills required, but still less complicated to set up and use than many competitors.

Pros:

VoIP.ms has some of the best prices in the industry! The customer service is stellar, and agents are always polite and try their best to be helpful. In times of low volume, I've had replies to my tickets within a couple of minutes. They have loads of features and functionalities, and also provide an API to interact with their services. The service is compatible with several VoIP devices, soft phones, as well as ATA devices. There are tutorials and a wiki on their website, and I've found knowledgeable users on 3rd party websites who are willing to help or give advice.

Cons:

While the main website has been updated with a new look, the backend (dashboard) still feels dated. The information and functionality is not impacted for the most part, however.

Reliable products, service and company

5.0 last year

Comments: Our overall experience with VOIP has been very good or we would not have stayed with them so long. We originally started using voice over internet about 20 years ago and so far have used 3 different companies. VOIP.MS has been consistent and offered the most value for the money.

Pros:

We have been customers of VOIP for over 10 years and beside a DNS attack that occurred to them once the service is stable and reliable. I like that you can pay for what you need and the rates are very fair. They offer so many different products that anyone can find the right combination to suit their particular needs. We love the flexibility of how calls can be handled, whether it's just a simple forward or sending them to voice mail. We also love the sms/mms features making any line excellent for web confirmations.

Cons:

The only thing that I feel is unfair is the cost of adding 911 capability to a line.

Easy to configure, administer and use; also very low cost for so many great features

5.0 last year

Comments: I used to run a home brew phone system that I configured using ATAs, UNIX servers, and assorted POTS phones. Now with voip.ms I leave 95% up to them and it all just works. I have extended the functionality to include my own DB-driven anti-telemarketer blocking system by adding in my own custom configured Asterisk instance running under FreeBSD and it was pretty easy to configure a SIP trunk in voip.ms to accommodate this.

Pros:

Voip.ms has provided me with a way to operate a complete SOHO phone system in my home without the headaches of maintaining a full PBX there too. I connect multi-line VoIP phones over WiFi for the ultimate flexibility. I have access to large enterprise features for pennies, and I can integrate my own specialized features by attaching an Asterisk PBX running at home on a mini-PC.

Cons:

There's very little I can find fault with. I've been having intermittent issues with BLFs on the VoIP phones but this could be almost anyone's fault, possibly the VoIP phones themselves. Voip.ms support has done their best to assist me in debugging the problems as they pop up now and then. But really BLFs are not super critical anyway, just a nice-to-have, so I'm not concerned.

VOIP.ms for home & cell phone

5.0 last year

Comments: I use it as my home phone provider. It's inexpensive compared to normal home phone service, and the overseas long distance rates are very competitive. My husband calls overseas a lot because his family all lives in Europe (we live in North America) so it saves us a ton.

Pros:

There are so many options for setting up your lines exactly as you want them. I am not an expert in telephony by any means, but their help desk was able to assist me in setting up my phone system quickly. They also have an excellent wiki with lots of helpful setup info.

Cons:

You can buy a data-only cellphone plan for cheap and use a VOIP phone app to use VOIP.ms as your phone. That's awesome, but I found that the service as a cell was somewhat unreliable and the voice quality was spotty. Still, I kept my VOIP.ms cellphone number for use when I'm abroad as a wifi calling solution.

A great VoIP and IVR system for small businesses and helps you to look like a big business

5.0 last year

Comments: Extremely valuable tool for our business.

Pros:

At the start it took some understanding on how to configure the system, however, once you built your first IVR you'll never forget how to do it again. It just works, and it's been very reliable for my business.

Cons:

I don't like how their billing system works. I have to keep feeding flat dollar amounts into their system (this is done automatically) instead of getting just one bill at the end of the billing cycle. This causes headaches for accounting.

VOIP.MS Pros and Cons

4.0 last year

Comments: Overall satisfied, but improvements needed such as being able to pay in CDN funds.

Pros:

I like that it is self-administered with Pay-as-you-go feature. I also like that voicemail messages are emailed as an attachment.

Cons:

There should be option to pay bill in CDN funds rather than just in USD funds to avoid paying unnecessary foreign exchange fees and poor rates on currency fluctuations. Also, there should be an option to pay exact amount desired rather than just in increments (i.e. $5, $10, $100, etc). If a customer wants to pay say $22.43 exactly because say he/she has a credit balance on his/her credit card for that amount and he/she wants to deplete those exact funds, he/she should be allowed to do so. That is also why being allowed to pay specifically in CDN funds is so critical.

Great service provider for no-frills Internet telephony

5.0 last year

Pros:

VoIP.ms offers rock solid connectivity using industry standard SIP protocols. There's not a lot differentiating them from the crowd, but sometimes that's exactly what you want. I've used them as a backing provider for softphones and various physical IP phones—they were a breeze to set up and offered plenty of routing and IVR options.

Cons:

SMS support is a relatively recent addition and still doesn't work as well as I'd like. Third parties often have trouble sending SMS to VoIP.ms, or sometimes they outright block the use of VoIP services for SMS. This is particularly a problem for two-factor auth and other automated messages.

You can do alot with a little!

5.0 last year

Comments: voip.ms solves many different problems with their feature set, I'm a happy long-term customer who has used many of the features of voip.ms over the years.

Pros:

I've been using voip.ms for at least a decade - in the early days I used the DISA feature + Bell's Fab 5 (remember that? When you got to talk to 5 people nationwide?) to call anywhere voip.ms reaches without any charges from Bell.Today I use it for:- Work - I have a USA DID for our US customers (I was using toll free at one point but it was too much)- Home - ObiHai 202 allows a POTS phone- Home - ring groups dial my POTS phone, Android device, and virtual SIP clients- Call recording (although most SIP clients have this built in for free)

Cons:

The Android apps available are of high quality, but an official app would be neat!Nothing really.

Cost effective solution for personal and small business use

4.0 last year

Comments: cost of telephony is the biggest plus with voip.ms. I am very happy with value for money.

Pros:

Voip.ms has a wealth of features that I use sparingly for my personal account and my small business account. The software is easy to configure with good FAQ and canned demos.

Cons:

The system goes down once in a while due to server issues. However voip.ms has a very good e-mail notification system so this issue is not a big deal. It is possible to switch to other servers if needed without too much effort.

Convenient Communication

5.0 last year

Comments: We've been using VoIP for about five years, perhaps more, and we've never had a problem with the service. Also, VoIP enables us to call Europe, which we do frequently, at an extremely low cost, dramatically less than we paid to our previous provider, AT&T. Also, we travel often and VoIP always keeps track of

Pros:

VoIP is very inexpensive and easy to use; we spend around $100.00 per year, an astonishingly low annual amount for a land line. In addition, the company sends an automated message whenever we reach our "balance alert threshold" and funds need to be added. We set our threshold at $10.00. Finally, the VoIP website is user friendly with well labeled drop-down menus.

Cons:

Using VoIP is a totally positive experience. The company has zero negatives.
