> **Pros**: VisiSpecs is the definitive tool for tracking and assembling project manuals for large projects with many consultants. On every printing, it saves us hours of formatting, updating headers and footers, updating table of contents, quality checking, and cross-referencing. The tags and parameters add intelligence to help track statuses. 
It's been a relief to put the old days of trying to cadge along decrepit Word macros and scripts far behind us.

> **Cons**: For better and worse, VisiSpecs is tied to the cloud and doesn't really function offline. So my hypothetical dream digital nomad life is somewhat curtailed by the need to be online.  
I was a little wary of the cloud at first, but it hasn't caused any confusion or disruption in our workflow. Everything (including the specs folder with Word docs) is easily accessed transparently, directly from Word. 
The other drawback of VisiSipecs is that it doesn't include the AIA MasterSpec content, and doesn't do a great job of importing spec masters without a time-consuming tagging process. I would love to see them directly license MasterSpecs from AIA.
