Great way to connect with your child
Comments: Staying connected with my son. Tracking his progress. Reinforcing what he does at nursery at home. Reading practitioner comments makes me feel good. I know the staff and other parents love it too and whenever I mention it to someone in a social setting they smile and say they use it too.
Pros:
Super easy to use. Just downloaded the intuitive app, entered password details and I was able to stay connected to my son while he was at nursery. Watching videos, tracking his progress. Spoke to nursery staff and they love it too as it saves them time which they can focus on the children.
Cons:
Nothing comes to mind. I think the product fits a real need.

Saves a lot of time
Comments: I have really enjoyed using it, I used to have blisters from printing cutting and gluing photos into learning journals so it has been really helpful for me. Parents also really like being able to find out what their children have been up to - especially when they come home saying they did nothing all day!!
Pros:
Easy to upload photos and add captions for assessment of a child as well as to share the moment with their family. It is user friendly, easy to set up, saves a lot of money in terms of not needing to print photos to stick into learning journals.
Cons:
It would be really helpful to have a couple of extra features: - we have three classes so when selecting a child for an observation I have 90 children to scroll through, some way of separating them by class to make it quicker to find them would be very helpful. For now the photos we upload have a different colour background depending on what class they are in which helps. -it would be great to be able to upload an observation for a group of children e.g. 6 who all did a number activity but for it to show up as a separate observation for each of them. Then I could go into some and add extra comments where necessary but would not have to repeat the process of adding the same title to each, same assessment to each and same initial activity description. I dont want them to all be in one group observation as different children may have said/done different things during the activity so I want it to be personal to them. -I think it would be great to have a version of the app for the children to use. they could then select their class and then find their own picture to select themselves. they could then take a photo of whatever they have done/made which they are proud of and then use the mic to record a little caption so they could say what they have done. As teachers/TA's we could then add on the assessment later. I think this would be great for Year R children and would love to use it with my class.

Thank you for your review Vicky. We're all so pleased to hear you're getting on well with it, and especially that it's saved you from blisters! I thought you might like to know that we do actually have a way to set up groups (the 'Manage Groups' section of the control panel) and you can make a group observation and split it up so each child has their own version. If you email [email protected] we'll be very happy to explain how to do that and answer any other questions you have. Great idea about children being able to login too! Keep your eyes peeled for that being available in the future!

Very useful tool for a Preschool!
Pros:
It is wonderful to share the day to day of each child at preschool. What they eat, accidents, toilet, nap, etc (including pictures and videos!). Definitely a great platform up to date and according to what the EYFS. It is great to be able to interact with parents and carers through "likes" on comments and observations.
Cons:
The mobile app does not have all the functions that the desktop would have. Downloading pictures take a long time as you need to click on one by one. When writing the meals that a group of children have had during the day, if you take too long before submitting the form (around 30 min) the webpage logs you out and you need to start from the very beginning.

Thank you for taking the time to review Tapestry. We're really glad to hear you find it useful. We are currently working on adding more functionality (e.g. the Care Diary) to the app, so we hope you will find this helpful! Instead of downloading photos individually, you may find it easier to export children's journals and/or photos in bulk. You can find tutorials on how to do these things in this section of our tutorials page: https://eyfs.info/forums/topic/46927-full-contents-page/#end_of_year. How quickly the web page loads will depend on the speed of your internet connection so if you are finding this slow, I would recommend speaking to your internet provider. We hope this helps!

Software for early years
Comments: Generally for observations and tracking it’s very simple to use. The additional features would be better if accessible via the app and therefore we don’t use all of the available features as accessing the website can be a bit of a faff sometimes.
Pros:
The app is really useful for creating observations and parents can also use the app to add simple obs from home too. Tracking the EYFS is simple by selecting which statement you want for your obs, tapestry then automatically creates a termly tracking for you.
Cons:
Not all the features are available on the app - including the care diary, which has to be accessed by staff and parents via the website. If staff have an account they cannot be listed as a parent as well which causes a problem if your child attends the setting and you need to notify them of an accident etc.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review Tapestry. We're really pleased that you find the app helpful. We are currently working on adding the Care Diary feature to the app so we hope this will be available to you reasonably soon! I'm afraid it's not possible for a parent and staff member to be saved using the same email address. What most settings do is use separate email addresses for each account. I hope this helps!
