> **Pros**: BIRT is open source, so it is essentially freeware. It's a popular choice among HR software vendors - Workday, SuccessFactors, Peoplefluent all use BIRT as the internal report engine.
> 
> **Cons**: BIRT is a bit dated now. It's better than even older technology like Crystal Reports. BIRT takes awhile to learn. It doesn't have good analytic capabilities or advanced features.
> 
> We generally like working with BIRT now that we've created thousands of reports, however, we can see it's days are limited.
