Reviews of Tryton
Great framework for fast development of tailored information systems
Comments:
In our line of work, the primary information system can't handle all the structures required for the day to day business to be efficient. You need flexibility, speed and have to be able to act fast on the changing circumstances, new technologies and processes. The implemented processes need to be optimized as much as possible.
Tryton provided a great framework to provide a secondary information system with micro-solutions for processes that needed optimization, either in a way of automation or to secure a higher level of data integrity and security.
Users are quite satisfied with the results.
Pros:
Modular with a lot of base functionality in the core modules, modularity and rich selection of core modules offers enables easy extensibility. Rock solid core system, with functionality which can easily be compared with Enterprise solutions. Great, fast and responsive user interface with modern design. Very readable source code, of the core and of the modules, which is a great source of examples.
Cons:
User documentation is rather scarce, the mailling list, irc logs and the discuss forum help rectify that. For the programmer the learning curve is quite steep, once needing advanced functionalities.
Alternatives Considered:
An excellent choice to switch your old legacy code into the open source ERP World
Comments: We are migrating all our processes step by step on Tryton (stock, purchases, sales, production, ...). Our first successful step was stock management with some customisations: printing labels on Zebra printer, a react native Android app linked to Tryton for an easier management on the ground, ... As i previously said, Tryton is very modular and it allows you to customize most of your needs to Tryton.
Pros:
- Excellent modular python framework with a strong code - Free software managed by a growing community around a foundation - Easy upgrades - Gtk client / Web client
Cons:
- Lack of documentation/tutorials for users
ERP Experience
Comments: We have successfully implemented Tryton in fields ranging from food and restaurant to Insurance Brokerage, and we have verified its versatility and performance, but most importantly, the satisfaction of our customers.
Pros:
This software is very powerful, it is not a simple ERP, but also a framwork where we can develop almost any kind of solution. Its modularity, once understood, allows us to extend the functionality of the system in a clear and easy manner. The quality and reliability of the software is very important to us, and Tryton provides a variety of testing tools to ensure this. Its licensing, not only of Tryton but also of the PostgreSQL database, allows the freedom we all expect from an ERP, and assures us that there will not be a Vendor lock-in in the future. The introduction of the SAO web client has projected Tryton towards a first class product, making it more attractive for users. Finallly, its community is formed by an extusiastic group of people always willing to help
Cons:
The documentation (users, administrators and developers), could be better, and although their website has been updated and improved, it is still a little confusing to follow up on system improvements and functionalities.

Excelent product and philosophy
Comments: I think tryton it's amazing when you realized, the software has the best philosophy on their changes and developments.
Pros:
Tryton is stable, well built, a lot of useful features, very flexible, support it's really good, amazing community and most important every month you see new great updates.
Cons:
At the beginning was hard to understand how the software works and documentation is not good for beginners. But when you get more in touch everything gets clear and fine.
Fast, extensible and modular.
Comments: We use Tryton as or own ERP and develop services based on IT. The overall experience is good and currently we are planning on expanding this line of business
Pros:
Great ERP and, best of all, It's a great framework for developing your own applications. Desktop and web client, easy to embed and interface with. Multicompany, multilanguage
Cons:
The learning curve for developers may be a bit steep. I recommend visiting http://tryton.org for some help.
