Sitecore's Capabilities for Automation and Transformation

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Sitecore has always been adaptable, providing hosting in either on-premise data centers or in the cloud to match the demands of their customers. However, the company has recently made a concerted effort to promote its cloud-based hosting. This conforms to market standards and is a huge relief for businesses who don't want to add yet another software suite to the ones their IT departments already have to maintain.

Pros:

When working with customers, we often implement Sitecore. The majority of these deployments have been enterprise-wide, multi-business-unit efforts in which all of the company's divisions and marketing arms use Sitecore to run their external websites and collaborate on digital marketing for their customers. Occasionally, it has been employed just inside certain divisions of a company.

Cons:

While it's possible to make edits, the UI isn't as user-friendly as what you'd find with other competing products. The Sitecore editing user interface might be more intuitive. It would be great if Sitecore wasn't simply cloud-hosted but also completely managed.

Alternatives Considered:

Extremely robust CMS platform with

4.0 last year

Comments: Overall cost is somewhat high compared to competitors, but the tool is extremely advanced. Certain customizations can be difficult if there isn't good documentation already out there, but Sitecore support is very helpful for the most part. Willing to work you unless the feature at hand has extensive customization.

Pros:

The flexibility in creating components and templates is extremely robust once you understand how things work together. From a dev perspective, there are tons of customization options that can be handled via config settings or custom code.

Cons:

The learning curve for new users can be high, especially without formal certification or training. Oftentimes temporary users (e.g. internals or temp help) do not have time to fully learn the ropes by the end of their duration.
