They sent me an Interac e-transfer request which I used to deposit $3,000. Then they closed the account due to not meeting their community standards and kept my money. I have been fighting with them for a week trying to get the money back. Since they closed the account before returning my funds they have no record of anything and dealing with their customer support has been an absolute nightmare, have sent and received upwards of 20 emails back and forth and still don't have my funds returned. They require a bank statement showing the account name, a record of the transaction including account numbers and payment reference numbers etc. I have given them all this numerous times now but keep getting passed around and then asked for the same things again. It's an absolute drain of my time and energy. My banking institution where the funds were deposited informed me that the reference number I gave them should be the only thing they need to reverse the deposit. This has been an excruciating process that I still don't have a resolution to after 6 days and over 20 emails back and forth with their support. This should be a simple resolution. Firstly, they should not accept money from me until my account is fully approved. Secondly, they should have returned the funds before closing the account. Lastly, according to my bank, and Interac that I have spoken to, they should only require the payment reference number to reverse the transaction, especially since they initiated the closure and their policy states that they will return the funds. This has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend Wise to anyone in Canada.
