This tool is a life saver for innovation teams.
Pros:
I love the pipeline management tool and back-end reporting. I think that the user interface is also incredible. They also update with cool new features often. The support team is very quick.
Cons:
The cost is very high for a nonprofit. The tool can get pretty technical at some times and a little difficult but the Support team is very quick to help.
One of the best ideation platforms out there!
Comments: Great customer service, abundance of out-of-the box features as well as a company that listens to Customer feedback.
Pros:
Outside of the the great customer service the company provides, the ease of use and features are what make Brightidea stand out. Our customers have especially enjoyed the back-end idea management interface to be able to rank, sort, and group ideas that have come in from solvers. With a large company and thousands of ideas flowing in, this is a key features that other platforms have failed to address meaningfully.
Cons:
The one potential disadvantage of the tool is that advanced customizations will require professional services support which add up. Out of the box, however, the platform will service 90%+ of the Customer base so that may not be a big issue.
Unique but cumbersome
Comments:
I like how you can customize the entire thing. It's a proper web application. You can make it as advanced, simple, or personally branded as you need.
I also greatly enjoyed and appreciate the BI support.
I generally think it is too cumbersome, and it took me a while to learn how to use, at least the backend. Maybe that is the nature of backends. At first Brightidea felt like I was in a pilot's cockpit, with too many knobs and buttons to keep track of. The features also make the backend slow and not snappy like a fun/good piece of software.

Platform Usage
Pros:
The ease of use of the tool. The ability for the end users to collaborate and share ideas across all work streams. The platform captures all submissions and allows the end user group to tailor to their needs what the whole submission and evaluation process consist of.
Cons:
When viewing submissions the ease of use can be challenging. When viewing submission within the pipeline you are not able to see the specific number attached to the submission without hovering over the specific submission. Being able to tailor the layout of the submission form to meet the end users needs.
The Leader in the Industry, but come with a price if you want to innovate
Comments: I had no issues when use, but the price tag is an issue and there are cheaper solutions out there to almost the some.
Pros:
Overall, the app do exactly whats stated, not big surprises and easy to setup for any it manager.
Cons:
The App is Pricey and you really need to check first the ROI.

Thanks so much for the review and feedback. We actually have products that start as low as $5/mo. and we would love to discuss some of our entry level offerings with you and your team if those are more suited to your price point. Please reach out at [email protected] or directly to your Customer Success Manager. Stay Bright!
We have been using this tool in our project to put forth improvement ideas for our team.
Comments: This has become a part of our team activity where we log our ideas, comment on other's ideas and track the ideas to closure thus improving the overall functioning of the team.
Pros:
One of our track leads introduced this tool to our team around one year back. Since then, team has raised around 56 ideas and it has led to many process improvements in the team. Team is very happy with the tool because of its ease of use. Email notifications to the wider team audience helps get useful review comments on the ideas. Bright Idea moderators help to move the ideas forward to closure. Overall, the team is happy to use the tool and make a difference to their routine work.
Cons:
The email notification feature is very good, however, if it is feasible to include the whole comment in the email, it will help save time to login to the bright idea site just to see the comments.
Lots of great features, solid UX, curious what a more curated platform might look like.
Pros:
It works! Right now.
Cons:
So many features and multiple ways to turn on and turn off those features that it is difficult to know if you did it right or wrong. For example the software sent 60 emails to my company's Executive Vice President and I thought I had emails turned off but turns out that was only at the challenge level not enterprise level. Not great.

Thanks for the review Ahmad, I'm sorry to hear about all of the emails that went to the Executive Vice President. Let's chat soon so we can figure out how to prevent that from happening to you again, and to other customers. -Daniel
Good experience so far!
Comments: We are still in the early stages and are yet to conclude our first initiative. However, the idea generation and collaboration displayed so far has been really promising.
Pros:
Being a multiple site organisation, I love how employees can share and discuss ideas with other employees within the organisation. People that they may otherwise never have spoken with or even met.
Cons:
Initial interaction with the platform has been good, but encouraging all employees to go completely paperless and buy into the online platform has been a challenge, particularly as a large percentage of our workforce do not have regular access to a computer or mobile phone during working hours.
Practical software helps corporate innovators do their jobs best
Pros:
A lot of useful and plug and play options in it. It helps corporate innovators easily start idea competitions and gives opportunity to practically managing idea pipeline
Cons:
Not much customizable for specifical needs. Customer support can be much creative in solving problems.

Bright Idea is excellent software for crowding sourcing and managing your innovation pipeline.
Pros:
It provides comprehensive and very useful features & functionality. They offer a suite of apps to use for different innovation initiatives and robust reporting & insights.
Cons:
The software has so much to offer that it can be overwhelming at times to determine the right tool for the right job.
Jumpstart your innovation program
Comments: Excellent team to work with, clearly experienced and supporting clients in the field getting things done!
Pros:
- Will support you on your innovation program journey as it matures, covering nearly all possible activities in your program with templates and guidance for each! - Mobile app! - can be tailored to match what we want to achieve - overall analytics and pipeline management from idea to delivery
Cons:
Its visual identity option (themes and css) are effective but a bit too much work to my liking! It does require you to consider properly the user journey on its homepage in particular.
Hack App for the win!
Pros:
Brightidea makes it easy to set up initiatives for our Global Hack Day program. Submitting a project is simple for our employees and the voting/comments features allow for great interaction among colleagues. As an administrator, I'm able to customize pages easily with widget editor.
Cons:
BrightIdea is always improving their platform, but as an admin, it does have its quirks. Sometimes matching fonts size and color on an HTML widget can be frustrating. There are so many capabilities, that it is overwhelming in the beginning and some features don't seem very intuitive, but after awhile, you get the hang of it.
Leader In Innovation Challenge Software
Comments: Using BrightIdea to help run our innovation challenge program has been a wonderful experience. The software is easy to use for both admin's and most importantly users. Their features cover all aspects of the innovation life-cycle allowing for everything to be completed and tracked in one place. And their customer support has exceed our expectations, they have done a fantastic job and helping us scale our program in the right ways.
Pros:
It's extremely easy for users to understand and use it, thereby making engagement an easy sell. The features they support are also extensive and they continue to add new ones to support a growing program.
Cons:
A few bugs have made setup from an admin standpoint more time consuming then they should be, but work around are available and they are quick to respond to our needs.
Very flexible and reliable application that gets better and better
Pros:
It’s so simple to set up and managing the challenges we run is first-rate, the support offered is top rate and the portal has a wealth of information. The ideas space where fellow Innovation programme managers share ideas is a place to see what other organisations are looking at rolling out. Finally, the user experience is very simple which is essential.
Cons:
Whilst we can get all of the reporting data we need out of the Brightidea application - improving the real-time dashboards would be something I would like to see improved further
Great tool for idea crowd sourcing
Comments: I have been using the Brightidea Platform to run an idea crowdsourcing contest in my company (international insurer). the Platform is extremely modular and has all the features it takes to make your innovation program a success.
Pros:
- modular and easy-to-set up / easy-to-use platform - brightidea accustomed to dealing with large international groups (security & integration is made easy by the team - handy tools to get ideas to be evaluated (simple to set scorecards, basic single scale assessment tool...) - reactive support team in case of technical issues. You are never alone with your problem - talented team of Professional services team to get you up and running
Cons:
- no in-platform design thinking type of "prequel exercise" in order to better identify the user pain point before idea submission - 2 yr-contracts take the level of users at the end of 1st year as reference point for year 2
Brightidea for tracking new product introduction
Comments: Having a real time, up-to-date tracking system for projects in the NPI pipeline has allowed us to better manage our initiatives both internally and externally. Grouping projects depending on their particular stage helps us to prioritize better and use our time efficiently, This keeps projects from being forgotten along the way. Brightidea has always made reporting to the OCC much easier because all of our NPI projects are being stored in one place and only authorized users can make changes. This prevents errors and duplication.
Pros:
We love that Brightidea logs status changes as projects move through our new product pipeline. The approval dependencies and historical data have been incredibly useful for tracking changes and reporting to our regulatory agencies. Being able to view all of our project inputs in different ways is also very useful. We can sort projects by stage and export them into spreadsheets according to various criteria. The pipeline view also helps us to visualize where attention is needed.
Cons:
One issue we ran into was the inability to backdate projects. We are able to adjust dates when we export the data from the Brightidea site, but it would be useful if projects could be backdated, since we cannot always upload new products the day that they start. Otherwise, the Brightidea team has been able to solve any other problems that came up!
great easy to use program
Pros:
the challenges app is one of my favorites , we can use it to describe our top challenges and to easily expose it to all of our employees
Cons:
to many applications can confusing the end user , i think that bright idea can help their admins with suggestions to internal communication (it will help us to extend our program and it is a share interest for us)

Brightidea
Comments: I have not had a good experience with Brightidea. There needs to be many improvements to the platform.
Pros:
Brightidea is good for hackathons and crowd-sourced challenges. Once the site is created collecting ideas and moving them along the pipeline is pretty simple.
Cons:
Brightidea makes most tasks difficult. The backend is outdated and not intuitive. Setting up a site is time consuming and you have three different setup areas. Brightidea needs make many updates.

Even though it's a challenge, I do like to use this platform because it's been great so far
Comments: I'm getting to know more about my company and being able to come up with ideas to make them more creative and collaborative
Pros:
When it comes to organization the webstorms are helpful The platform is relatively easy to use, customize and collect data And I do like setting things on my own and being able to come up with new strategies from data analysis
Cons:
Truth be told: I do hate it's chat mechanism All the users, the team and I just can't get it, so we communicate via email Other than that, I'm having struggle to set up customized and independent pages and I would love to have a way to merge categories and pipeline stages
The best software
Comments: Our overall experience with Bright Idea has been excellent. We have been able to name programs through associate engagement. We have also been able to manage our large pipeline of pilots that we are testing all over our portfolio.
Pros:
I love how easy it is to use and administer. This tool is highly customizable, which allows us to cater to our brand and make the tool work for us. It provides us with an organized platform to crowd source answers to some of our challenges by engaging our associates! We have been using BI for two years and the number of enhancements and improvements they continue to make is impressive.
Cons:
The system has so many applications and I struggle to figure out a way to use them all! I wish that there were some better real world examples of each.
I use BI daily to schedule appointments and to track project activity.
Comments: See survey!
Pros:
Keeps me on point with where projects are in the pipeline. Helps me to make decisions on what projects will move forward and which projects will be exited. Gives me the opportunity to make email contact with constituents from BI.
Cons:
I can't determine who used the system last and may have moved things around. Needs a tracking mechanism.
The Brightidea platform enables innovation at our company, connecting us to global professionals.
Pros:
I appreciate the flexibility and ease of customization. We have been able to use the platform for a variety of use cases; some of these are pre-programmed by the Brightidea team but often we are customizing our own challenges and pipelines to fit our needs.
Cons:
Often, I have to export to Excel rather than analyzing within the platform. It would be preferable to have more analysis within the platform.

Brightidea provides a very easy to use platform for capturing and triaging product ideas
Comments: Able to provide an online, easy to use portal for capturing ideas from our user community
Pros:
It is pretty easy to use and has a nice "social media-like" interface which everyone is used to. It gives me the ability to see ideas entered by our customers but also manage the backlog of ideas.
Cons:
There isn't much I don't like about this. I don't use all of the features but that is because I don't have the time to leverage all of those capabilities.
Continuously Improving Cool Idea Management Software
Comments: Overall experience is satisfying
Pros:
What i like most is, release of new tools and features every year
Cons:
Website design flexibility is least likable feature of this software
Brightidea makes frequent improvements to the software and keeps up with industry trends.
Pros:
It is robust and configurable to a high degree. This flexibility makes it a very powerful tool. There are limitless use cases for this product.
Cons:
Some underdeveloped features are still lingering around and the documentation is not always up to date.
