A Solid Option For Small Businesses
Comments: The Ooma platform has been great for our office. The apps and web portal give us everything we need to have a customized set up. The only problems we've had have been hardware related, and those were resolved by their support team.
Pros:
The Ooma Business platform is pretty robust and easy to setup and use. We've been able to deploy phones and fax and our clients get a professional experience when they call us.
Cons:
There are a couple of quality of life features missing, i.e. you can text from mobile, but not from desktop.
Alternatives Considered: RingEX and Spectrum
Reasons for Choosing Ooma Office: Limited functionality and difficult setup/management.
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: The price, features, and reliability.
All In One; Simple and Effective!
Pros:
Being able to make calls, messages, faxes and voicemail management from one integration solution makes for easy client communication management.
Cons:
Set up of phone numbers and how they interact can be difficult, but Ooma customer support was very efficient and effective at optimizing our settings.
Alternatives Considered: RingEX, Vonage Business Communications and HubSpot CRM
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: Overall features including text messaging and fax integration was vital for our business model.
Ooma office - Like a bad marriage that fails within the first month
Comments: At this point, we started looking for another provider that could provide a simple solution for a sole-proprietor business at a savings. We found DialPad, which has been a DREAM to set up. Every interaction with DialPad has been pleasant and easy. We initiated the porting of our business number from Ooma to DialPad. Because of the length of time the porting took, we went over our 30-day trial period. Once the port was complete, cancelling the Ooma service was a nightmare. They want to hit me with the cost of the deskphone! There was a rental agreement hidden in the contract. The phone was not free! Early termination fees! They want me to pay to ship the phone back to them that I didn't want, otherwise they will charge me for the phone if they don't get it back. This whole experience has been like extortion. If you don't need any phone hardware to run your business, DO NOT accept any "free" equipment from anyone trying to get you to switch to Ooma. I spent 37 minutes on the phone trying to get them to send me a prepaid return label for the phone. I was transferred to a manager who told me that he sent me the label. After hanging up, there was no label, just the boilerplate email with the shipping address that they want me to send it to. I replied saying that the manager told me that he was sending the label. The response was that they don't send prepaid labels. FAIL!
Pros:
Not much. I was sent a desk phone as part of a 30-day trial. I didn't want a deskphone, but they said it was included in the trial. After I agreed to try their service, he kept calling me every day to see if I got the phone yet. The phone was fine. I have a small desk. I don't need a bulky corded phone on my desk. I mostly use a soft phone or my cell phone with an app to take business calls. On the soft phone, I was able to make calls easily enough, although there was an unusually long delay from the time I tried to dial a number and when it actually started ringing on the other end. I never experienced this with RingCentral. Very annoying. Then we decided to port one of our incoming business lines to Ooma. Once the port went through, I then learned that our incoming business line was ported to a fax line. Thankfully one of my existing customers emailed me to tell me that he could not reach me because when he called my business line, he got the loud beeping of a fax machine in his ear. I don't know how many prospective customers I may have lost during the time that my main business line was connected to a fax line. When I tried to contact Ooma customer service to fix this problem (because their admin portal won't let me fix this myself), I waited on hold for 20-30 minutes. Once someone picked up, I had to be transferred to someone else and then the call was dropped. This happened to me two times before I was able to reach someone that was able to reat
Cons:
Also, there is no music on hold included with Ooma business plans. You have to buy your own royalty-free music and upload it yourself. Otherwise, your customers hear dead silence when you put them on hold. I also was unable to make my after hours business voicemail greeting work the way it did on RingCentral (and the way it now works on DialPad). Their system couldn't do it. Meanwhile, I continue to get sales calls from Ooma trying to get me to switch back to their service.
Alternatives Considered: Dialpad
Reasons for Choosing Ooma Office: Looking to simplify and save money
Switched From: RingEX
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: DialPad lets you try their service for free, test it out, without any equipment rental entanglements. Once we knew that we loved it, we switched to a paid account so that we could initiate the porting process. DialPad ROCKS!
Ooma is the shizz!
Comments: I am completely 100% satisfied. There's no question I made the right choice.
Pros:
I originally sought a solution to replace AT&T. Ooma has addressed every single one of my issues - cost, reliability, and customer support are second to none.
Cons:
I can't think a single thing. I love everything about this company.
I have loved this company since I started using it in 2016
Comments: Excellent. I recommend Ooma to everyone I meet.
Pros:
Text messaging, desktop app, recording features are so simple to use
Cons:
Some mobile devices have a lag for text messages
It is what it is...
Comments: decent, still loyal and appreciate customer service to help out.
Pros:
It works! Customer service is good! Can be a challenge sometimes working out voicemails, if someone doesnt pick up, adding a better quality voicemail. sometimes the customer service can mess it up even more
Cons:
google vertification spam, random calls, and spam hits out office too many times because of ooma somehow...
Alternatives Considered: RingCentral Engage Digital and Comcast Business VoiceEdge
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: Price was reasonable at the time. Ringcentral had NO customer service.
Ooma is my choice
Comments: Excellent and would highly recommend them to other businesses
Pros:
Not having to use AT & T at all and easy to use
Cons:
Nothing other than not being able to see what number calls in when I transfer to a mobile number.
Ooma Office is Excellent for Simple Office Use
Comments: From the initial set up to having used it for some time now, I have been very pleased with Ooma in many ways. The low cost and ability to handle all of the messages and calls from my cell phone has made this the perfect solution to our needs.
Pros:
We don't use our phone often and I'm not in the office near the phone much, so the call forwarding to my cell is perfect, as is the ease and low cost for these features. The cost for the function is essential and a great balance here.
Cons:
Limited to internet connectivity, which hasn't been a major issue but has caused minor inconveniences. There was some issues with the app and some settings that I had to figure out, too.
Amazing product!!!!
Comments: My overall experience with Ooma Office has been fantastic!!!! I don't have anything to complain about!!!! The options for the product are absolutely amazing, and the customer service is excellent!!!!!
Pros:
I love the customer service the best!!!! They are always on top of their game, and willing to go above and beyond to help you out!!!!!
Cons:
Honestly, there isn't anything I don't like about this product!!!!
Helpful and accessible
Pros:
Able to modify needs for fluctuations in office flow, accessible anywhere, inexpensive
Cons:
Difficult with mobile online platform. Wouldnt keep changes and crashed
Affordable VOIP/eFax with most features you'll ever need in the base license
Comments: Overall, they've been great to deal with. Pre-provisioned phones were plug and play. Porting numbers in was painless on Ooma's end.
Pros:
Cost per line is very affordable at $20 per line. Android/iOS soft phone and eFax included in base rate. The only downside is softphone for PC/Mac requires upgraded license.
Cons:
Voicemail transcription is an extra cost, as is PC/Mac softphone, which is a bummer. Otherwise, no complaints.
Alternatives Considered: Vonage Business Communications
Reasons for Choosing Ooma Office: Switched from AT&T Cellular Landline service due to unreliablity of LTE signal in new office and AT&T's inability to use existing hardware as VOIP ATA.
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: Ooma's price point was excellent, including the hardware.
Easy to use, but prepare for issues
Comments: I took over phone responsibilities for another small company, which had a virtual 800 # they used for everything. I started an Ooma Office account, bought all their equipment and phones, ordered their service and ported my 800 number to my Ooma Office provided number - all as they suggested. Without delay I started getting hit with SPAM calls daily, lots of them, which are coming from the local exchange number they assigned me. I asked them to change that number, but they wanted to charge me to do-so. Their call quality is hit or miss, and doesn't seem to be tied directly to MY internet quality as I've hooked the hardware straight to the modem and still had bad quality. Thier software, account dashboard and features are ALL amazing - so no complaints there. It was very easy to get running and give the appearance of a VERY large and professional setup, but that is hurt by the call quality.
Pros:
Very easy to setup out of the box and get running with their config site, TONS of features for something priced so low, very easy to use, LOVE the options, price is amazing.
Cons:
My two biggest issues have been call quality and spam calls, both of which COULD be issues from my end admittedadly, but not likely. I've got a very fast internet connection, and had no spam call issues before switching to ooma office. After the switch, I get 15 to 20 robo calls per day, and when I take calls I generally have to speak quite slowly so that words don't drop. Also, their tech support personnel leave a bit to be desired and take days to get back to you, IF at all, and only give you partial answers.
Run, don't walk to any other VOIP service
Comments: My overall experience has been that of dealing with children pretending to be adults.
Pros:
The customer service is rude, when they bother to answer the call. I am trying to cancel my subscription and obviously customer 'service' is trained to make an unhappy customer even more aggravated.
Cons:
Ooma does not take the necessary measure to protect their users from data breeches as the detective told me when he called my number b/c it was traced back to a bucket shop where the elderly are the target of a scam. As is my prerogative, I've changed my VOIP service to another provider but cancelling my subscription with Ooma has been an exercise in total frustration. I've sent emails, messages, texts, tried to call 3 times, filled out a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I still owe my soul to this inept company.
Alternatives Considered: Nextiva
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: I can't remember. It's been years.
Works great for mobile workers
Pros:
That I am able to work from another state and it is as if I am in the office. I can send items to the printer, get and answer phone calls and have calls transfered to me from the office.
Cons:
We had some issues at first set up with voicemails and getting it corrected was problematic. Also in the beginning there was a problem with the call forwarding and we had to call in frequently with problems. These have been corrected.
High expectations and poor results
Comments: Disappointing. As a long-time, happy Ooma home user, I expected better.
Pros:
When using in the office with their IP phone, the call quality and reliability are good. Fair price for features offered.
Cons:
Ongoing issues with access and notification on my mobile phone. Months of efforts with their customer service team have failed to fix a bug they have working with Google Contacts.
Alternatives Considered: RingEX
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: Positive experience with their home product.
Ooma Office is a great VOIP Solution for a SMB
Comments: Ooma Office was the perfect solution for us as it replaced all the functionality we had with our local landline option and gave us more flexibility with the mobile app, all for a significant savings of over a $100.00 a month.
Pros:
Very easy to use, mobile app, e-fax, phone # porting, very affordable, can use existing phones. There is a desktop app available although it cost extra.
Cons:
It's not so much about the software, but the quality of VOIP solutions in general are dependent upon the quality and strength of your internet connection. We are connecting using a WiFI adapter since we don't have direct access to the modem. As a result every once in a while the connection isn't so great so the clarity isn't as great as it could be. The other thing I don't like is that the desktop app is extra.
Great phone system for a small business
Comments: Ooma office is great solution for small businesses that are looking for an easy to use, affordable option where you can manage your communications all in one place.
Pros:
Very affordable, allows you to listen to voicemails through email, has a desktop app for text messages, call logs and faxes, you can forward calls to your cell phone or download the cell phone app to use wherever you are. Faxes though email and texting through desktop is probably the biggest plus for us. We also use their virtual receptionist to set our operation hours and set away messages.
Cons:
The desktop app is pretty glitchy. We are constantly having to click on force reload in order to get our newest text messages to populate (instead of them just appearing on their own as they should). If we do not do this we risk missing a text message.
Makes my small business look big
Comments: I love it and would probably have to hire another employee if I did not have Ooma.
Pros:
I love Ooma office. My company, only me, does not do a lot of phone correspondence. And a few years ago, I was inundated with spam and junk calls. The switch to Ooma Office allowed me to set up a system where the user needs to push a few buttons to get to me. This has stopped all spam and robo calls. As a one person business, this has saved me hours of previously lost productivity.
Cons:
If I have to give a con, then it would be their desktop app. I can't recall why I didn't like it, but I ended up removing it from my desktop. I use the web version of their app and it works just fine.
Unreliable and hard to get support
Comments: I like the options that OOMA provides, I just wish that it was more reliable and easier to get support.
Pros:
I like that we have the option to set up a ring group, so it cycles through phones that it rings to if no one picks up, though occasionally it skips people for seemingly no reason.
Cons:
It is unreliable and flaky. We often can't tell if there is an OOMA outage or if it's just our office that is having the issue. Occasionally skips people in the ring group for seemingly no reason, we have to force reload the app to load new text messages (rather than getting them as they come in). It also drops our calls sometimes too, especially during bad weather. Occassionally we have to restart the base unit, or unplug the phones and remove the batteries to reboot them, and that only works ocassionally. It's challenging to find customer support, and they often walk us through how to restart it, and when that doesn't work they tell us they'll call back. Usually the problem resolves itself before we hear back from anyone, but it isn't long until there are more problems.
Ooma has been a great choice for our company.
Pros:
Quality handsets and voice quality. Mobile phone integration has been valuable.
Cons:
Monthly costs may not be the least expensive but the quality of the service has been better than expected.
Long time user
Pros:
Appreciate that the platform is always adding new features and other requested functions
Cons:
Set up is a bit tricky in the beginning to be honest
Ooma works great and will save you money.
Comments: It has been great especially during the pandemic with everyone working remotely. They can all still use our Ooma system.
Pros:
Ease of set up and use, feature rich and easy to learn.
Cons:
None that I can think of, system really works well.
Alternatives Considered: RingEX
Reasons for Choosing Ooma Office: To save on our phone costs and get a more reliable system.
Reasons for Switching to Ooma Office: More features and better cost.
Great product for small business
Comments: Exceptional product and service!
Pros:
It is remarkably easy to setup... just plug and play and you are up and running!
Cons:
There really isn't much that I did not like about the software/hardware. Customer service is a little bit lacking.
Love Ooma!!!
Comments: Overall, I am very satisfied with Ooma. I have been with them for three years and will never switch away from them. Their price and quality cannot be beat.
Pros:
I love that they are always looking to upgrade the features to what their customers need.
Cons:
I wish the desktop app, and the mobile app were a little more advanced. I would also like the virtual assistant to transfer to a different number when the option is selected.
Best service
Pros:
The best feature is their virtual assitant service and the ability to catch up with everything from my phone anytime and anywhere
Cons:
There is really nothing i am uncomfortable with.
