About QuickBooks Desktop
QuickBooks Desktop is an accounting software that helps businesses manage finances, expenses, invoices, payroll, payments and more.
It integrates with our FSM software, so it is really great to be able to go from one system to another without much effort.
My only complaint has been that when you are couple of releases behind you can no longer direct email invoices to a client.

Simple and easy to correct issues!
Comments: All good. No issues. Anything I found that it couldn’t do there was a workaround for.
Pros:
Very simple to correct errors. It is clear and little to none training needed.
Cons:
Nothing. I love this program and would get it again.
Quickbooks Desk Top
Comments: My overall experience I would have to say is positive. I have been able to run all three of my company's books on this software for 29 years now. Honestly if they fixed the above-mentioned issues I would probably be staying with their service. As of January 2025, my entire bookkeeping firm is switching all clients over to a more affordable and more user-friendly product. Quickbooks has lived in a Monopoly type state for years, so they stopped caring about the customer. The competition has heard this and has finally stepped up with competitive and user-friendly products. I believe Quickbooks will continue to lose market share over the next decade or so. Maybe then they will listen to their customer and change their ways?
Pros:
This is pretty much the go to for bookkeeping. Once it's set up and you have a basic understanding pretty much anyone can use this product.
Cons:
The biggest cons are the lack of linkage capabilities to cloud based software. I'm sure they decided long ago they would phase this product out to their Online version instead of just fixing the existing platform which pretty much everyone prefers. The other major con is the ridiculous price increases and the complete lack of decent customer service. If you need help you pretty much just have to hire a QuickBooks pro due to the lack of customer service.
QuickBooks Desktop Rating... C
Comments: I would rate it a C. Good for very basic minimal use.
Pros:
QuickBooks Desktop is good very personal or very small business use to keep track of expenses.
Cons:
QuickBooks desktop will no longer be doing updates. And has to much room for user errors. If someone tries to do bigger bookkeeping in it and does not know how to do bookkeeping it can get messy.
Alternatives Considered:
A Reliable Tool for Small Business Accounting
Comments: It offers a comprehensive feature set, customization options, and excellent support. However, the steep learning curve and limitations in cloud integration may be drawbacks for some users. If you're willing to invest the time to learn the software, QuickBooks Desktop can be a valuable asset to your business.
Pros:
QuickBooks Desktop offers a wide range of features, including invoicing, expense tracking, payroll, and inventory management. It's a versatile tool that can handle the accounting needs of most small businesses.
Cons:
For those new to accounting or QuickBooks, the software can have a steep learning curve. It may take some time to become proficient in using all of its features. While QuickBooks Desktop offers some cloud integration capabilities, it's not as seamlessly integrated with other cloud-based applications as some competitors.
Quickbooks, a great tool for keeping your books straight.
Comments: Enjoy Quickbooks-- been using a version of Quickbooks for 27 years. A very good experience
Pros:
very easy to use, makes accounting and record keeping a breeze.
Cons:
Bad thing is that you can delete items easily, So make sure you put in dates, that do not allow you to delete unless you have the password.
Great for accounting!!
Comments: My overall experience with QuickBooks Desktop has been positive. I use it everyday and it really helps me keep all of my accounts in check!
Pros:
I like that QuickBooks allows me to take control of all accounts payable and receivable. I also like the accessibility to all of my important reports that help me keep my business running!
Cons:
QuickBooks is a little hard to navigate. It takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad!
most popular accounting software / international applicability
Comments: All good but for medium sized businesses. If you are growing fast some capabilities could be missing.
Pros:
It is affordable for medium sized businesses and do not need high infrastructure costs. It has high lerning curve, so it is easy to hire people who knows it. QB desktop can be set even with help of in-house team. Priced moderately and do not need specific trainings. Has connectivity to the most popular payrol solution providers (Bamboo etc.) and banks.
Cons:
Not very efficient inventory tool, just accounting so it is needed is you operate large item volume to get additional inventory management solution. Good to have build in payrol solution to reduce license costs. It is needed industry specific packages f.e. construction to get field operations and efficient estimate creation tools. Sometimes is unstable during import of inventory data and needs more offering for RPA and dashboard creation. No IFRS specific reports.
Review Mias
Comments: Find it very easy to use and to capture data.
Pros:
Quick and easy to use, it contains all the tools for business financing.
Cons:
None that I can think off only some time on WEB version we have slow, but that is due to our network connection.
quickbooks desktop
Comments: It has been a great tool for my office...
Pros:
I prefer desktop over Quickbooks on-line
Cons:
it is being discontinued i am not sure if there is anything that i dislike about the program
Ideal for small business!
Comments: I've been using QB for over 20 years now and it's easily teachable to others, easy to navigate and intuitive for the end user.
Pros:
Ease of use, functionality and widespread integration with CPA firms. Recently initiated taking credit cards for payment and found the merchant services to be a great feature.
Cons:
Shift to subscription service, much preferred upgrading QB on an as needed basis.
Quickbooks solves your accounting needs.
Comments: Quickbooks does everything I need in terms of my accounting and customer tracking.
Pros:
I liked having a program that has so many useable functions for my accounting.
Cons:
I didn't like the fact that I couldn't access the program from anywhere.
Alternatives Considered:
Update when asked!
Comments: Overall, I would recommend this product for a small business. We depend on this for everything we do in the office from day to day.
Pros:
QB Pro is versatile enough to handle all of the different things our business needs to track. We have 3 different jobs within this company that need to be closely tracked.
Cons:
I do not like that it requires different subscriptions for multiple users. We have 2 subscriptions and when the 3rd person is occasionally in the office, I am not able to use it. Also we had a major glitch in the payroll one week that could not be explained other than I chose not to update, the moment I was asked.
Dependable and Suitable Tool
Comments: QuickBooks Desktop is valuable in making every financial management swift.
Pros:
QuickBooks Desktop is experienced in financial management
Cons:
The part of costing and making estimates is challenging.
The best there is for desktop accounts packages
Comments: I struggled with Sage for about 3 years. Came across this software, learned it in a day and (not exaggerating), it really did change my life. Excellent software, great customer service, loved it. I'd recommend it to all clients and friends. However, times have moved on again, and now its all about being cloud based.
Pros:
I liked the budgeting feature, the auto invoicing, and the fact that you could have more than one company on the one desktop license. You didn't have to keep buying the license like on the online version.
Cons:
If you are working on the books with someone else, you have to make sure that you back up your work, save and send, and that you're always working on the most up to date version of the software. I don't think its being supported by Intuit anymore, so you can't add payroll and soon I think it'll be obsolete.
While it can seem complex, it is a vital tool for any business.
Comments: I have been using QuickBooks for about six years now. It was quite daunting at first because it did seem so complex. There are many features. Our usage has changed slightly over the years as we have moved some features to other software's that allow us to work more efficiently. Originally we used QB for all of the normal backend financial needs, inventory, work orders, job notes, estimates and much more. We slowly transitioned some needs over to a different software for jobs, work orders, deficiencies, quotes and even front counter shop usage. We still use QB for all of our financial needs, but QB and this new software can work together to provide service for all our needs. They talk to each other and work seamlessly together. As for QB by itself, I have been very pleased over the years and are completely happy with the performance and support we get while using the software.
Pros:
When using QuickBooks correctly and to its upmost ability, I feel like the reports are one of the best features. You can run reports on just about anything you like based off how you use the software. From P&L to inventory and much more. I also really like how easy it is to add parts to be used for quotes. Quoting was super simple through QB.
Cons:
One thing I don't like that isn't really a fault of QB is how it sometimes does not talk to other software's that we are using. It is setup in a way that is can, but we do have issues sometimes and need to run a few processes to push over invoicing between the two. Another thing that we aren't really excited for is being forced to switch to at least QuickBooks online as we have been using the desktop version. It looks like it is being discontinued here before too long and we will have to switch to online or lose our support for desktop.
Good for small companies but support is lacking
Comments: Easy to use and train others to use. Too much risk of accidently making changes to closed periods by mistake.
Pros:
Easy to use. Works well for small companies with minimal employees.
Cons:
Too easy to make changes to closed periods; anyone with the closing password can change things that would affect financial statements. Changing item receipts to bills requires the closing password even if nothing changes that would affect financial statements. Hard to use for project costing. Support is awful.
QuickBooks Desktop
Comments: My experience with QuickBooks Desktop is great! I give it a 5 star rating, I love everything about QuickBooks Desktop!
Pros:
How easy it is to use. It's one of the best accounting programs out there and I highly recommend using it to everyone.
Cons:
That they are trying to do away with the Desktop version. I love everything about QuickBooks desktop.
QB Desktop fits the bill
Comments: QuickBooks Desktop fulfilled my financial needs by maintaining and reporting on all my business activities.
Pros:
I have everything I need for my finances in one footprint. I can authorize my bookkeeper and accountant with login credentials whenever needed.
Cons:
It is a little expensive, and the bank syncing feature can sometimes be challenging.
Excellent Service: QuickBooks desktop Pro
Pros:
Ease of use and able to customize to fit our businesses' desires and needs. We can create custom reports, invoices, Chart of accounts to help us to track our business' financial health.
Cons:
Cost. Since it's a paid software, some of us finds its cost a bit high especially for small businesses and or freelancers with limited budgets
Quickbooks POS: Great Software/User Friendly
Comments: Overall it’s a great user friendly software that makes my accounting life much easier to use and manage !
Pros:
Quickbooks is a very user friendly software that not only tracks inventory but tracks orders, user accounts and point of sale. It syncs well from other compatible software and makes accounting fun and easy!
Cons:
Sometimes the inventory on orders needs to be double checked after syncing from another software over to quickbooks to ensure numbers match
QuickBooks is for anyone!
Comments: Overall, this product is my preferred bookkeeping software as I’ve been using it for over 20yrs
Pros:
It’s easy to use and not difficult to set up and merge your files.
Cons:
If you have a file that you want to duplicate to separate the type of account you want it to be placed under, it won’t allow it.
Quickbooks Desktop for Small Business
Comments: Overall, we had a good experience using Quickbooks Desktop!
Pros:
Most parts of the program were easy to use!
Cons:
When Quickbooks forced their small business owners to Quickbooks Online, it was not an easy process. Forcing that kind of switch in the middle of a year, was less than convenient, especially when our company file was too big to transfer anything but out customers and vendor lists.
Best accounting software for small businesses
Comments: We’ve been using Quickbooks for twenty years and attempted to switch to other systems several times due to cost factors, but ultimately stayed with Quickbooks because it’s the only software that can do all that we needed.
Pros:
I love that it’s customizable for just about every instance.
Cons:
I dislike that there are a few things that we can’t customize, but they’re completely innocuous.
Great Small Business Tool, with Limitations.
Comments: QuickBooks Desktop was wonderful for our company and we were able to successfully work through the main processes of our business without too many capability setbacks. Unfortunately, the main issue with Quickbooks is (just like most other software) is that the setup better be done right the first time.
Pros:
Perfect software for a small company looking to keep things organized.
Cons:
Limitations without purchasing additional features or upgraded service plans. Feature locked behind paywalls. Cost per user for a file and software that is locally hosted seems a bit absurd and data access being limited after your subscription is horrendous. Customer service is non-existent.
Friendly User Interface
Comments: Overall, QuickBooks desktop is the best way to manage My Business expenses in one place. I recommend this for all business owners, but particularly small business owners.
Pros:
The QuickBooks desktop has an east to use user interface. It is easy to use a to teach a new user . Learning new features is easy to accomplish.
Cons:
I least like the menu, it can be tricky to find what you were looking for exactly.
