The Best Site to Fundraise

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Givebutter is easily accessible, customer friendly, effective, transparent about their minimal fees, and the best site to fundraise, hands down, no questions asked. I used to fundraise on other platforms, but I will now always stick to Givebutter after having a continued remarkable experience with the company. I'm very thankful that I discovered this site, and it has saved me a great amount of time & energy with my fundraisers. I've also seen a spike in my crowdfunding success by using this company.

Pros:

I most like the new ticketing feature for events because I plan to directly use Givebutter for a future project where there will be both crowdfunding for the tour and ticket sales for each event along our stops. Givebutter is a simple and brilliant solution for all of your fundraising needs, and this ticket feature is an example that shows how accessible, practical, and user-friendly the site is. I love how all these tools will be centered in one platform, and that helps me out tremendously.

Cons:

There are very few things that I don't like about Givebutter. As the company evolves, there are better and better additions to the givebutter.com site. I definitely can't complain about the software because I've had such an easy and fun time using this fundraising platform.

Best Option for Small Nonprofits

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: We have no plans whatsoever to change from Givebutter and see ourselves using it for a long time. It's perfect for our needs! Any nonprofit with a budget of under 1M would be wise to explore Givebutter as an option.

Pros:

Givebutter's customer service is probably my favorite, though a close second is the format of the dashboard and ease of use. I always receive a response from customer service within an hour or less when I've reached out, and I see consistent improvements being made from suggestions made by users. They really, really listen to what users are saying and implement solutions quickly!

Cons:

The only function I dislike is in the auction feature, where it cannot be deleted from a campaign. We launched an auction on the wrong campaign by mistake and now it lives there indefinitely, without a way to remove. However, I'm confident Givebutter will update soon to fix this, as they always have a way of listening to the needs of their users and implementing solutions quickly.

Wow, Jennifer! Thank you for this detailed and complimentary review! We're so glad you're part of the Givebutter fam. That's a great suggestion to remove the Auction tab from the main campaign page if an auction is canceled. I've created a feature request for that - feel free to add your vote! https://community.givebutter.com/raise/p/if-an-auction-is-canceled-also-remove-the-auction-tab-from-the-campaign-page

Givebutter for Gala Event

3.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: We used Givebutter for ticketing and other "purchases" for a gala event. It met our basic needs and we could use it's peer-to-peer capabilities to allow audience vote-by-donation for our event's competition that we could not do with last year's solution (Ticketspice), but the overall experience was frustrating. Features were limited. Fees were high and tip requests annoying. Reporting and data management was insufficient.

Pros:

We needed the ability to sell (and comp) tickets (with different pricing tiers), to send tickets electronically, check-in guests (preferably with a quick ticket scan but also by name), and allow audience voting during our event. Givebutter delivered all of these capabilities. The event/campaign could be set up and managed outside of our CRM (by a volunteer who then didn't need full access to sensitive data) and integrated (limited) with our CRM. We also sold online tickets to the event and streamed it on Givebutter (although that was a complete hack)

Cons:

Although the product satisfied our needs, there were many small frustrations and overall it felt like an incomplete product. Issues included:- High fee rate (standard credit card rate, although our actual fees seem higher) for non-profit use.- Additional "tip" to Givebutter both on the user side (can be removed if you pay even higher fees) and when making payout transfers is frustrating and not non-profit friendly- Ability to set different ticket tiers but no easy way to handle table purchases (just purchase X tickets)- Receipt info can be customized, but not in the way we wanted (include overall fair market value of purchase, as that cannot be deducted)- Poor campaign layout editor with limited options- Livestream of event is simply on the event ticket page. No ability to track watchers unless they click the "check in" on email. But during the livestream anyone can go to the ticket page and watch. It did allow us to have donation buttons on the same page as the event.- Payouts are manual and separate for each campaign. - Somewhat clunky UI

Integration with Bloomerang is critical and easy to use

4.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: We would not have used GiveButter if it had not been for their Bloomerang integration. That has made transferring donor data and information super easy.

Pros:

Easy and very intuitive to use. Free to set up pages and has a good number of options to use, but not an overwhelming number of options. Love that on auction items, you can manually add bids (for live auction) and can change the auction start date for each item. The integration with Bloomerang is crucial! It is the reason that we are using GiveButter. There are other good options out there, but they don't have the native integration. The Live Display feature is slick and will come in handy at live events for real-time updates.

Cons:

For some reason, text will not format correctly in the Story section, especially when copying and pasting. I have been told by support that I need to manually type everything in versus copying and pasting. Bullets when formatting text don't work correctly either. This is a basic feature that must be corrected immediately. The ability to use discount codes on the registration page is pretty weak. Cannot configure codes to specific items. For instance, if you want $10 off a specific ticket, you can't assign it to that specific ticket. Doing a percentage amount can get messy too. Need the ability to assign codes to specific tickets.Missing chance drawing (raffles) functionality. We're bastardizing a way to do it using auctions, but I hate to have to bring in another software to execute the chance drawing.

Great Price, Great Product

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Givebutter does everything that I need it to. I can process donations for our ongoing donation page and for specific events like Giving Tuesday. I am also able to use it for our annual fundraiser by selling vendor booths & tickets. And all of this for free. It's perfect!

Pros:

It's free which is great for me because I work at a small nonprofit and we have a huge upswing in money coming in for our annual Fundraiser in August, then the rest of the year there is little activity. Paying for a product all year when it's really mostly used a few months out of the year didn't make sense. Givebutter being free is the biggest Pro!

Cons:

It was little hard to import donors and I never figured out how to put in past donations to get our records all in one place, but I was able to tag people as having donated in the past so that worked well enough.

Always Recommending

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Pros:

Having no up-front cost removed the fear of using this product. We searched countless donation processors and CRMs and it was very difficult for me to get our team to commit to any of them that came with an up-front cost. This removed those barriers and gave us a good level of customization for a system that we never had to put a dime into (either donors covered the fee or the incredibly minimal fee was taken out before it came to us)

Cons:

I wish there was a volunteer event style function built in.

Great is Getting Better Every Month

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: Givebutter has been a great switch for us! It is everything we were looking for, and it doesn't cost us an arm and a leg. It integrates onto our Wordpress website wonderfully, and our donors love it too! We just did a $75,000 fundraiser through them, and it was a great experience.

Pros:

I love Givebutter, and I love that they are constantly adding new features each month based on current users' experience and suggestions. This platform has everything we were looking for: auctions, peer-to-peer fundraising, event tickets, and so much more!

Cons:

With it being a newer platform, they are still adding features, so things that we used in our old platform is not hear. Like the ability to set up custom filters. We'd like to be able to find donors who have lapsed in giving and their last date of donation.

Fundraising on a Whole New Level

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: With this platform we video classroom activities, present scholarships, highlight students and, this year, conduct an online Silent Auction! We have doubled our bottom line donations since there is no venue rental, catering costs, etc. I strongly encourage you to Give Butter a try!

Pros:

FOr years we held an Annual fundraiser for our students in Career and Technical Education. It was, for ten years, an in-person event, plated dinner, speakers, etc. When the pandemic hit all of that changed. We began with Give Butter in 2021 and we are starting our third year. It has been AWESOME! Are donations are up and our overhead is WAY down. I don't know that we will ever go back to the former "old school" plated dinner and speakers.

Cons:

It takes a bit of getting used to, the first time out but subsequent set-ups are a breeze!

Simply solution for family benefit

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: We needed a way to solicit donations online and with various payment options.

Pros:

Givebutter provided me a simple solution to create a campaign and solicit online donations for a family in need. The interface was easy to use. We were up and running in less than an hour. I was able to quickly make changes along the way as new donations became available. It was also great to assign other individuals access to run reports and track donations. Payouts were simple and quick.

Cons:

I wish I could have uploaded pictures of donation items directly into the interface rather than having to upload to a server and referencing them via .html. I think that there should be a better way to manage.

Cons:

Excellent for non-profits of all tech-skill levels to offer modern virtual fundraising events

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: We created our account in 2020 and it solved the immediate critical need of reaching supporters for our fundraising events amidst a pandemic. Because of Givebutter, we had an immediate and headache-free solution that allowed us to raise almost $40K so far. Also, we are an agency with many different programs, each of which manage their own unique fundraising campaigns and have their own unique needs. Givebutter offers three different types of fundraising campaigns, which allowed each of our Programs to run the type of campaign they needed.

Pros:

It has a clean and simple user interface, which required very little training time as I onboarded new Users from our staff. Their support team is very responsive and knowledgeable, and help to guide us through all of our questions. Their organization has a customer-centric focus, and is designed to receive and adapt based of their user feedback. We also really liked its ability to integrate with our CRM.

Cons:

Currently they do not offer an online auction function (silent or live), but this feature is in development and anticipated this year. We also did not like the Tips feature, which if activated removed their platform fees. Essentially, if you leave the Tip feature on then at checkout it provides the donor with the option to also tip Givebutter. We felt that this was confusing to our donors, who may not understand what Givebutter is, and that those funds would not be included as part of their gift to our organization. We would instead prefer to have a flat platform fee, but realize this probably means they would make less money. Also, the integration with our CRM was limited in terms of what data migrated where. We hope to see that change, so more information can be captured via Givebutter and automatically synced into our CRM.

Great Customer Service!

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Being able to continue our fundraising efforts in a virtual format during the pandemic has been incredible. It has opened our eyes to the benefits of this channel of fundraising and we will likely continue implementing it into our annual fundraising efforts.

Pros:

We absolutely loved the donor wall, as did those donating to our cause. We did a follow-up survey after our first campaign hosted by GiveButter and this was voted as the favorite feature of our campaign by our constituents.

Cons:

There is an ease of use about this software which makes it easy to build onto. Some features that could be improved upon would be the ability to align photos and text (content) better, to be able to track site visitors, and being able to order/remove information at the top of the page prior to seeing the story. That said, Givebutter is great about accepting recommendations and has made many upgrades simply by user suggestion, which is an awesome customer service attribute!

Brilliant Platform and Super Easy

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: GiveButter has been a terrific solution for our organization. With GiveButter we solved the problem of not having a donor-centric online giving platform that takes all the modern payment methods. The benefits have been that we can increase our donor engagement and allow our fundraisers to share our story in an easy and effective way.

Pros:

GiveButter was incredibly streamlined to get going with. It works perfectly, and has all the features we need: peer-to-peer fundraising; team and fundraiser performance tracking; and alternative payment methods like Venmo, digital wallets and paypal. It is easy to use both for our staff and our donors. We really like the ticketing feature and the ability to live stream events on our pages. GiveButter's imbedded tips and documentation are so easy to read and understand. They have a five-star support team. We really like the API with Double the donation for matching gifts. The most helpful thing about GiveButter is the ease of implementation. It took less than a day to learn everything we need and get set up. The biggest upside to using GiveButter is that it is a donor-centric, flawless online giving platform.

Cons:

I would like a little more ability to control how data exports - picking fields, for instance, instead of one massive export. Not a big problem though, and the data is useable for analysis and importing to the our fundraising software.

A Great Switch

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: We have been very pleased with Givebutter and their openness to update/upgrade their platform based on feature requests of the non-profit users.

Pros:

The user interface with Givebutter is much better than the previous online donation form we were using. We like that it is a step-by-step click through opposed to a long form to fill out. Having the ability to run an online donation and an event page in the same system is helpful to our team to not have to learn two different types of platforms.

Cons:

Givebutter promotes itself to be free to the non-profit, and the donor pays the platform fees. We would like to be able to choose to pay a monthly price to pay some of the platform fees on our own (as we know it is part of doing business) instead of passing them on to the donor every time.

Givebutter Response

Pros:

The customer service is pretty response and is always kind. Givebutter has one of the lowest fees in the industries and is easy to get setup for new non-profits.

Cons:

The backend is very slow compared to other similar donation processing platforms. Uploads take forever, frequently error out, and it can be frustrating for the end user. Also - none of the withdrawals are automatic. You have to go in and manually withdraw money from each unique form you setup.

Great fundraising product

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: Givebutter has been extremely helpful in our major fundraisers as well as for smaller campaigns throughout the year.

Pros:

Givebutter is easy to use and customize to your individual campaigns. The graphics for large fundraising events are fun and easy to create. The cost is minimal and on a selective basis, which makes the product more accessible for nonprofits, especially those just starting out. The integration with QuickBooks is easy and seamless when set-up correctly.

Cons:

The tip contribution is automatically marked for 5% and we've had issues with donors missing this and ending up with a larger tip than intended. But in that case, procuring a refund was very quick and easy.

Great Platform!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Givebutter allowed for me to raise money for my club to ensure than finances would not be a barrier for a student to play on a club team. We greatly appreciated the platform and recommend it to anyone looking to raise funds for a good cause!

Pros:

I love how the platform is more interactive than a GoFundMe page. That and they take only a very small percentage of the proceeds, unlike the bigger pages. I also really like the Givebutter crew, they are easy to work with.

Cons:

There were some issued when I was trying to transfer the money back to the cause. It was a bit confusing to figure out how to access the raised money. I did a fundraiser about 2 years ago though, so it might have improved since then.

Givebutter helped my organization so much!!

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: I started a school magazine from nothing, and we wanted to do print issues and weren’t going to change our mind. Givebutter allowed us to make enough money every semester to help fund the printing costs.

Pros:

What first drew me to givebutter was that it didn’t take any fees out of what we got, we weren’t going to lose a large percent of donations to the host website.

Cons:

There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the software, the only thing is that it isn’t as well known as go fund me for example so I don’t think as many people were “on board” with donating because they didn’t know what the website was
