Entreflow Consulting Group's use of Knit

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: The implementation was a little bit clunky for us. So I know they're working hard to make sure that that's super smooth. But to be honest most payroll implementations with all the other apps out there are a little bit clunky so it's not something that's going to really change. Something that's missing from most of the payroll apps out there right now is that holiday pay love; for B.C. we don't do it the same way as the rest of the country. So in order for us to do our stat holiday pay calculations correctly in this province, we need to be able to input the hours on a daily basis and none of the apps are supporting us with that at the moment.

Pros:

So the amazing feature for this app is that it is a trifecta of an HR app, a benefits app, and a payroll app all in one. So it is not only just a payroll app but it's also a place for you to store your HR employee files and as well they have some benefits pieces in there as well. They do offer benefits programs too so it's all nicely organized in one place for you. Some more of the top features; it’s super easy to run the payroll if you’ve used a payroll app before, it's pretty similar. It’s really easy to use and there's an employee portal as well which makes it really easy, you don't have to print off or email pay stubs. The employees can go there and grab the information when they need to. They can also go in and change their information too which is pretty awesome. So they can update their address and other contact information. It does direct deposit, so again, they put in their banking information, the manager doesn't need to see it, no need to collect any forms of their banking information on it. They go in there, they get that set up and if they need to change it, they do that on their own. So it gives the employees the power to control their information. As well, on the H.R. piece, you can store contracts, policies, any kind of documents that you would want somebody to sign off on, and there's an e-signature capability in there so they can sign off on it.

Cons:

the H.R. component of the app is cool but it's pretty basic at the moment. So you upload a document and then you can get the signature, you can see if people signed off on it. I think I'd love to see them move into adding more of an LMS (learning management system) piece within that too, so that you could do your employee onboarding or training through there. Maybe have some checklists, content videos, tax, what have you, and for the employees actually go through their onboarding through the app and be able to track where they're at and which programs they've completed and not completed.

A great payroll solution for small to mid-size organizations

Comments: Integration of Payroll with QuickBooks simplified my accounting process and also helped me with the onboarding of users. The customer support is quick and simple.

Pros:

The software is easy to set up as well as a very simple user interface. Employee onboarding is very easy and also allows to do off-cycle payroll. It integrates very well with the accounting software. The filing of ROEs and year-end documents is very simple and straightforward.

Cons:

Setting up WorkSafeNB payments in New Brunswick was slightly cumbersome and had to contact the support team to complete it. Sometimes the integration with QuickBooks gets disconnected and have to be reconnected again. It would be great if there could be an auto-export of the payroll entries to the accounting software.

Multiple pay rate and project tracking

Comments: We were unable to use Knit for this complex payroll

Pros:

Easy to use. many reporting features. Many good features.

Cons:

It did not work for my client as we could not setup multiple rates for employees, and also track the project and the multiple provinces.

A great cloud based payroll solution

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall this program has replaced ADP which was charging more and had less functionality and was harder to use.

Pros:

This product is elegant in it's simplicity. It is well laid out and very intuitive to use. Exactly the right amount of features are available so that you can do everything you need to without having to hunt or become an expert.

Cons:

The ability to add signatures to and upload documents is a bit buggy at the moment. At times I had to call support and they were able to help me on the back end.

Great product and even better customer service!

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Dealing with Knit has been super easy from the beginning. They do set a high standard when it comes to customer service, that I've always appreciated.

Pros:

Knit has a very open and transparent platform that involves its high user base with changes/features that should be implemented. It's very refreshing to see when we're able to directly impact the software we're using on a regular basis.

Cons:

Knit is constantly working on improving its platform. There are a few features we've wanting to be implemented for the last year (better ROE management, tighter reporting, better dashboard, etc.) so we're excited to see these features up and running soon.

Pros:

I use Knit for several of my clients needing payroll services. It is an easy to use product and clients love the direct deposit feature. Knit customer service is fast and friendly and always fix the rare issues we have.

Cons:

Sometimes have issue with extra payments and getting a message that it can only be done on next pay period. We just need to plan better

Knit Purl & Stitch - everything is neatly done up

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: One of the nice features of Knit during COVID-19 was how remarkably easy it was to stop & start payroll on an employee by employee basis.

Pros:

Installation & setup were drop dead simple and the end result is perfect - it just works!

Cons:

I have yet to find anything negative but will let you know if I do

Admin & User

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Response time to issues has been very good, the software is good, and I find it easy to use except for vacation allocation at the beginning of the year.

Pros:

It's very easy to set up and navigate, it's intuitive, and the features that I need as administrator are there.

Cons:

It is very difficult to set up and use the vacation allocation process. The need to set up "policies" for different individuals with different vacation is cumbersome - I want to say that "Jane Doe has 10 vacation days in 2022" and not bother with anything else. This is the worst feature by far. I would also like sick or other leave and vacation leave to be a different colour in the calendar view.

Very user friendly and efficient

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Highly Recommended

Pros:

It is easy to use, the reports make things easier for calculating what you need over any time frame, it tracks your vacation accrual, sick time and everything. You can create ROEs and submit them to CRA, it has a lot of capabilities, I used to use ADP and Ceridian and this is just as good.

Cons:

Haven't found anything yet that I can comment on.

Best payroll software

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: My overall experience with Knit has been first class. When I've had any questions their customer service has been super fast with their responses whether through email or a phone call and have helped fix any problems, which were not very many, right away.

Pros:

The best feature I found was the employee onboarding. I like the fact that the employee is responsible for entering their own banking information. This helps keep their information secure and reduces any possible keying errors when entering multiple employee information.

Cons:

As I have only been using this software for a few months I have not come across any cons.

Affordable, Easy to Use, Fast to Implement

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Great!

Pros:

The payroll management with Knit is straightforward and easy to use. Knit also had great recommendations for benefits and the vendor flowed seamlessly with Knit.

Cons:

It would be great if the benefits software could be implemented into the Knit software so it's like a one stop shop.
