The Pro's and Con's of Nakivo BU&R

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: One of confidence, this software is a strong tool for IT Environments and their costing model is fair too! VM's are priced per socket, etc.

Pros:

Ease of use and functionality, fantastic product that runs and doesn't fail. Easy to backup and restore VM's and you can also store your backups on various media such as NAS, USB, AWS (3-2-1) and also enables you to run your OWN backups of your OFFICE 365 mailboxes and One Drive data.

Cons:

The product is stable and seldom needs to be supported by the vendor but they MAKE you pay for support on ALL licenses (in retrospect) as soon as you want to buy more licenses! I went a whole year without support as I was more than confident of the product, only to be told that I have to back-date support if I want any more licenses! Rather irritating given the stability of the product!!

Nakivo BackUp Review

5.0 last month New

Comments: I am really impressed with Nakivo. I have worked with a lot of newer companies in my almost 25 years in Technology. They get the relationship value, and they seem to really understand their process - they are partners, not just sales. I cannot over state the value of that mindset in today's world.

Pros:

The Nakivo Sales and Engineering teams were excellent to work with. Patient, answered all of our questions and continued to provide support, extended test licenses, throughout our process. Never once were they pushing for a sale - just helping us explore our needs. The service itself was quite intuitive and had all of the features were were looking for. Our differentiating factor, was a feature set that was outside the scope of the back up solution.

Cons:

The only thing that came up in testing, was direct support for tape libraries - but we are a bit of a special case when it comes to that. This was not a direct impact to our decision.

Comments: I like Nakivo application. It is the one of the fast backup job applications. And it is very easy to do restore.

Pros:

Backup storage space consuming by Nakivo is very less compared to other backup applications. Also, the backup repository remapping to a new backup is a wonderful feature i have used in Nakivo.

Cons:

Live Replication of Microsoft Hyper V is not yet released. Backup Storage attach and detach is difficult when it is scheduled.

Simply, low cost solution.

5.0 last year

Comments: A simple, low-cost and effective solution for backing up entire virtual machines.
We have implemented the solution for several dozen clients. The software is very flexible becouse we can install it on the NAS or as a machine on host, which makes it adaptable to the client.

Pros:

Simple to contact with support staff. Large knowledge base. Simple and concise reports.

Cons:

Collaboration between QNAP and NAKIVO; delayed updates. Problem with transfering configuration between versions. Discontinuation of the"Basic" license for small/single customers.

Best backup, replication for your money and the absolute best support available.

5.0 last year

Comments: Best experience I have had with any Backup software. Your account manager will send trial license to test any features and best part an engineer will connect to install and configure at any time with no cost. This service is available after purchase as well. You want training for new employee's schedule for an engineer and they connect and go over all features with you.

Pros:

NAKIVO engineers connect with you and go over your install and configuration and can schedule this free service any time after install to go over anything you have questions about. My biggest pro is you can go from texting support in the program or website to having a tier 3 engineer connecting to your computer to help with any issues that arise in minutes not hours.

Cons:

No Cons as of today, have had couple errors that popped up and support was connected and resolved within minutes.

Comments: Wonderful backup and replication software.

Pros:

User interface and ease of use. Nakivo is a fast and efficient backup solution.

Cons:

If we do not renew the license for 1-2 years, customer is charged back dated. We should have an option to reinstate with lesser cost which will help the customer.

Perfect for VM Backup and Replication

5.0 8 months ago

Comments: The prouct works well at a fraction of the price compared with other solutions such as Zerto

Pros:

Great product that helps us easily meet our backup and replication requirements. The product is easy to setup/configure and manage via a nice web UI. The API helps us manage and monitor the backup and replications.

Cons:

The product could provide better visibility into the storage usage of VMs being backed up. When using forever incremental backups, there is no reporting capability making it difficult to account for storage on a per VM/customer level.

NAKIVO is a great all round solution that won't break the bank

5.0 last year

Comments: Excellent overall experience. The Pro's far outweight the Cons. Especially as all of the Cons were related to my understanding and techincal proficiency with Linux. We migrated to NAKIVO from VEEAM and are glad we did. Overall it's easier to use than VEEAM

Pros:

It's a low cost highly efficient backup of our VM server environment with file and disaster recovery. NAKIVO tech support is also excellent should you run into issues. As in they're fast to respond and their techs are highly efficient. In addition the later versions have a much more logical and intuitive GUI

Cons:

Did have some issues getting my head around how to deploy it with their "Transporters". And I needed tech support to add a Linux based NAS as the repository. However in fairness, I'm not very good with Linux administration.

Pros:

Very nice and clear software. Contains the functions that you must use in a professional backup software program. Easy access to their support

Cons:

NAKIVO Backup & Replication

5.0 8 months ago

Pros:

full and incremental options. This ensures all your important data is safe without taking up too much storage space. The backups and recoveries are very fast, so you don’t have to worry about long downtimes. The software is easy to use, even if you don’t have a lot of technical knowledge. The interface is clear and straightforward. You can create virtual copies of your physical machines, which is great for disaster recovery and testing

Cons:

The advanced features require some technical know-how, which means the software is powerful and capable of handling complex backup needs. This depth can be a positive aspect for businesses looking to fully leverage their backup solutions.

Nakivo from someone that implemented it

4.0 last year

Pros:

The ease of use of installing Nakivo and good the support was while we where installing it.

Cons:

If you look on your repository itself outside of Nakivo you can't see which back-up is which. Which can be annoying when you wanna delete or move some files from repository to repository.

What to love about the Nakivo Enterprise Backup Appliance. From a seasoned network administrator

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I learned about computers by custom building them back in 1994. Individually purchasing all the components, I needed, then assembling the system to my client’s wish’s. I was a big Microsoft Windows fan at that point. My how things have changed. I’m now a big open-source software fan. I don’t wish to delve into the advantages of open-source software vs Microsoft software at this point. You will eventually discover this on your own. What I do wish to discuss is an amazing enterprise backup solution I came across, while googling “best enterprise backup solutions” various reviews and recommendations appeared after my search. I filtered through the reviews and one product really stood out amongst the others. Now, let’s get to the “meat” of my point. Some of the other backup solutions would only function on a Microsoft operating system and not on an open-source OS. Strike One! Some of the other backup solutions did not offer any virtualization appliance installation options. Strike Two! And after downloading and importing Nakivo’s Backup appliance into VirtualBox and having it up and running in under 15 minutes! Strike Three! All others are out!

Pros:

It can run as a Virtual Appliance. The appliance is a Linux OS. Administrators can have it up and running and preforming backups in under 15 minutes. File level restore. Many other reasons to implement this backup solution in your environment. Install the free trial to discover for yourself.

Cons:

I actually could not find any short comings while using the Nakivo Backup Appliance. It certainly makes your life as a network administrator so much better! That's definitely NOT a Con! lol
