About SPS Commerce

SPS Commerce goes beyond EDI technology to take the complexity, cost, and risk out of managing trading partner relationships.

Learn more about SPS Commerce

Pros:

I like that it can be integrated with Quick Books to make things more automated.

Cons:

If the "check for errors" fails to allow the acknowledgment send, this can take time to reconcile as It tells you what is wrong, but not how to correct it.

SPS Good overall Solution

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: SPS has been great to deal with. Highly recommend. Simplifies the whole EDI process.

Pros:

Integrates very well with WMS system. Very seamless.

Cons:

If a transaction doesn't get sent to our WMS system there is no way for us to have the file resent. We need to contact support. Support however is very quick to respond. Seems like an unnecessary step.

Top Tier Support

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall very satisfied because of the service we are given.

Pros:

I've used SPS Commerce for many years and appreciate the dedicated support from our account manager, [sensitive content hidden], and her team. For technical questions, SPS Commerce's support team is quick to respond and help!

Cons:

A small area of improvement can be with docs handling large amount of data and them saving properly.

Very Bad implementation, I made a bad choice

1.0 last year

Comments: I will not recommend this company to anyone, ever.

Pros:

It is bundled nicely with Netsuite which makes integration between SPS and Netsuite quite simple.

Cons:

The implementation is horrible. I cannot stress it more. I thought True Commerce was bad, this one is worse. We went live with our ERP and we are still not live with all of our EDI, it is about 4 months past due. Empty promises but nothing is done. The upper management did not care.

The Worst Team I Have Ever Worked With

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: I will likely be switching to a different product

Pros:

Platform stability is the only part of the product worth noting. Once we were up and running and spent months troubleshooting, the platform performed as expected

Cons:

The implementation team was unresponsive, belittled my team, and went live with my vendors without fully testing. SPS is to this day the worst company I have ever worked with. Their sell-side and buy-side implementation teams wasted days and thousands of dollars in time spent dealing with their issues. Their lack of product discovery created around 50 critical (trackable) errors, their onboarding team continually failed to support and train our vendors, and their support team failed to resolve most issues. I had to create my vendor onboarding and training document because I could not trust their team. Their own employees told me how disorganized their teams were which only reinforces the issues described above.

Yuck!! Do not do it!

1.0 6 months ago

Comments: Yuck!! SPS has been one of the worst business experiences and I don’t believe it has its customers best interest. I would never recommend and actually would deter anyone from working with them.

Pros:

Absolutely 0 Pros. They do not care about their customers at all. Good luck if you try to work with them.

Cons:

Terrible and ancient tech. Terrible and inauthentic service and care. Uneducated team.

Horrible Experience

1.0 last year

Pros:

We used SPS commerec for a large client and things were fine. We tried setting them up for EDI for anoteh rlarge client and it was anightmare. We asked for pricing and only after we waited 6 weeks to get pricing and sent an email letting them know we would move on due to lack of communication did we suddenly get an email checking in. Rep had no idea what we needed although we discussed extensively when we met that we needed pricing to move forward and would wait to hear back. We signed up and got charged a LOT more money than other EDI companies. We thought we would only pay SPS but then later found out through our warehouse there would be other fees if we needed to set it up through them. Started paying monthly fees even though the warehouse never sent it up and we had to cancel. Every time we try emailing them about thsi it takes an average of 9 days to get a response.

Cons:

The high Cost and Customer "service" were dissapointing.

10+ years and still terrible. And insult to EDI in all forms.

1.0 last year

Comments: Been terrible since they every forced their way into the first vendor-retailer relationship and nothing's changed. Still terrible, just worse at what they do.

Pros:

There is NOTHING good about a company with a 1.2 star BBB rating.

Cons:

SPS staff's technical ability is without a doubt the worst in the industry. Nobody you'll speak to is proud of this company, they're all in sales or just needed a job. 12+ weeks to turnaround onboarding a trading partner is horrible. They're entire business model was to buy a big box retailers vendor list and force them on to SPS at the vendor's expense. Extortion? Close if not. Now that isn't working anymore so they're trying new shady tactics. The best thing the whole EDI industry could hope for is this scam go out of business.

Poor EDI solution

1.0 10 months ago

Comments: Unhelpful customer support and quite happy to charge for no service provided.

Pros:

It is used by Chemist Warehouse and therefore we have to use it.

Cons:

The Assortment module requires manually filling out a 196 column spreadsheet for all SKUs to be included. Half the columns are not applicable to certain products but cannot be left empty. It is simply not fit for purpose.

Comments: Overall SPS Commerce has been good in keeping us connected to our retail partners with no issues.

Pros:

Terrible service

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: I would not recommend because I don’t feel important by my implantation specialist. She’s proven multiple times not to follow up and her manager doesn’t attempt to improve the process. I am still not live with some of my trading partners and have many unanswered emails.

Pros:

Seems easy enough to use if you can get through the set up process.

Cons:

Terrible communication, employees won’t return calls or emails, management doesn’t care. No one is held accountable, very hard to work with. Which is a bummer since the software seems decent.

Great for integrated CMS systems

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: My experience hasn't been easy. There was no first hand training. We had to rely on webinars and video training to gather the knowledge we needed to understand how to navigate SPS Commerce and the fulfillment process. However, if we had an in-person training and if our in-house software was more up-to-date so that integration and automation was an option, I believe my experience would be more pleasant.

Pros:

The ability to communicate between retailers and suppliers in a very real time exchange. The ability to merge a large quantity of orders directly into our CMS software for quick and easy fulfillment. The search ability to easily find any PO and the ease with being able to separate retailers by name. Love the work flow chart associated to each order- easy to see notes and activity in regard to any given order.

Cons:

The complicated and lengthy process of sending and receiving PO Acknowledgements and Changes. All recent activity is noted on the over and transaction tabs, making it confusing to scroll through. I like the idea of only showing 1 PO number and having check marks within the box that show the activity that has been completed for that particular PO. This software does not work well with our very unique "small company" CMS/ ERP software. We have to manually print out each PO, manually respond with a PO Acknowledgement after manually checking our inventory, and then have to manually enter the drop ship addresses and order into our software for fulfillment. We then also have to manually respond with ASNs and import invoicing. We do have the ability to merge large quantity orders, with a specially crafted application so long as it only has a few consistent addresses the account/retailer ships to. Automated merging is not possible for many and varying drop ship addresses, those we must manually print, review, and enter through the entire fulfillment process.

The cloud based system is annoying - forces a lot of manual data entry

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: Average. The software works. There is phone support which is great. But the manual labour we have to do every week is annoying.

Pros:

The software receives the orders accurately and sends the appropriate communications for EDI software,

Cons:

Each item needs to be manually entered posing a risk of error. No uploads are possible. We have 150 SKU's. Each one has to be entered manually. Moreover, every week when we receive an order, someone has to get the barcodes, use Vlookup to find which SKU the order refers to, then manually enter the order into our system. I realise we have chosen the cloud based system. But it is not cheap! They could set it up so we can see the SKU's, they could set it up so we can bulk upload SKU's but they don't.

We use SPS on a daily basis, but when problems arise there is always a delay in resolution.

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Once set-up has been completed correctly the process is smooth. I like that I am able to get notifications of the activities of the POs, Invoices, and ASNs.

Cons:

The software is fine, but support needs help. Emailing customer support is a slow process and I don't get same day responses/resolutions. Response from a staff member can take a few days to a week. I typically have to call in to get problems resolved the same day if it's an urgent matter. Error notifications don't provide any details on why documents were rejected. Depending on who is helping with the ticket will depend on the length of time for resolution. I have requested a break down of the EDI flow so I can understand the process better, but have not received additional information and was told there isn't any information on this. Our company has had high turnover and there is no one on staff that has a central understanding of how EDI works.

SPS Commerce Fulfillment

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: MAPADOC push from SPS eliminates the need for us to input the orders manually.

Pros:

The push of information through MAPADOC to our organization's software works well. When there are issues, help from Customer Service has been readily available.

Cons:

One of the biggest issues that seems to plague SPS Commerce Fulfillment is the push of information back across MAPADOC. We do changes in our organization's software as well as having to do them in SPS. This increases the chances of errors. For example, when an invoice is created the information is not propagated from SPS nor our system through MAPADOC so the data has to be entered all over again. The invoice document is created off an existing order so the invoice should have all data entered from that order with the option to make changes if necessary. This would allow us to verify all items prior to sending the invoice. The Quick Entry is wonderful for a single entry order but not practical for extensive orders. Another issue that we seem to have is when there is error in processing a document. The document is tagged as having errors but there is no further information as to what exactly is the issue. The error is not highlighted on the document. If the error was highlighted it would save time in the correction of the error.

EDI Fulfillment Tool: Great Way To Fulfill Orders

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Before using SPS Commerce we had to do everything manually in the form of emails and our company software. Now whenever we receive an order we just log in to the portal process it on our end and then enter the tracking information and invoice information. Easy peasy!

Pros:

Very easy to use. Once everything is setup we get prompt emails for orders received. This helps us in processing the order. Once we login to the portal everything is just a click away. All the open order are shown on the dashboard instantaneously. Furthermore, there are very userfriendly and vibrant buttons or blocks that differentiate between orders, errors, shipments, and invoices. If anything is missing from any order for example shipping information or invoicing information, it's just a click away to complete it. When we open the order, the presentation of the order workflow is so easy to understand, even a layman with no technical information can easily understand at which stage the order is. We have one of our trusted resellers also using it and they are able to extract information very easily. Also, when we signed up I was afraid I would not understand how everything works on the SPS portal, but the training center feature helped me greatly understand how each of the processes works. I had an issue once, I was unable to find the carrier code for one of my carriers, I talked to the support rep and she helped me with it. Although it took her some time also to find it but the issue was resolved.

Cons:

Well, I wouldn't say its a very bad feature but when I tried adding more users to our account, like our accounts personnel and other team members who interact with it, there was a fee associated with it. It's not a con but we were not informed about it before.

A must if you want to make business with large distributors and retailers

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: SPS attains its purpose to get access to the main retailers and easily helps your company becomes EDI compliant

Pros:

You get easy access to the most important retailers and foodservice distributors. It is a must to be in EDI compliance with all retail partners.

Cons:

Some of the mapping and workflow features are not easy to use for the users or not predictive

Focused on customer acquisition only, horrible support & realiability

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: I've used SPS for 4 years now and with multiple customers. Same story, they come in for initial sale with their customers then disappear and do not care about vendor support. I've talked with other vendors, other companies and haven't heard anyone with good things to say. This company's time is limited if a decent competitor would surface.

Pros:

When we get it on time, we get EDI, POS data (weekly)

Cons:

Horrible customer service. They sell their customer and push for additional sales but fail to provide support to vendors.

SPS takes care of everything for your implementation and there for you afterwards

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Great, the software implementation with new big name vendors was amazing!

Pros:

Very easy to use. It is just a simple GUI screen to put in what products you have back to the vendor. It is SO simple to auto generate invoices.

Cons:

There should be a free csv download and Quickbooks plugin to import ASNs into Quickbooks as invoices.

Robust service but hard to work with and very costly

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: Overall, I'm not impressed with SPS. Basic functions like automated inventory feeds were created to be sources of revenue for the company. Customer support rarely met expectations - when they give a deadline, expect it to be accomplished a week or two later (sometimes worse).

Pros:

What I liked most about this software is that every online e-tailer seems to have some sort of integration with SPS.

Cons:

What I liked least about this software is the poor timeliness of customer service and ridiculous cost.

10+ years and going strong

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Our larger trading partners required us to be able to accept EDI POs, so that was our driver. Initially (12 years ago) we looked at two or three solutions and ended up picking a different package because VPEDI just looked "too easy." The other EDI solution, which shall remain nameless, was much more complex, and I thought it would be able to handle our somewhat complex pricing structure more easily. After fighting against unfulfilled promises with the other provider for a couple of years we gave DataMasons a second chance. They said they could deploy in 60 days, they did it, and we've been happy with our EDI situation ever since. We've added TPs and documents over the years, and DataMasons is always right on top of these as well. We feel like they value our business just as much today as they did on day one.

Pros:

DM's libraries allow for quick deployment of new trading partners or documents. Scheduler handles most of our EDI interactions, so it is almost completely maintenance-free.

Cons:

I can't really think of anything I don't like about the software.

At the time, really didn't meet our needs

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I knew that the rep working with us genuinely wanted to help and did what he could, but it was out of his hands.

Cons:

When we started using SPS Commerce, we'd just closed a major deal with Bed Bath and Beyond, and needed their technology in order to meet BBB's shipping requirements. However, the service didn't offer the ability to create dual labels (FedEx and EDI info), so having to put double labels on thousands of cartons cost us a ton in terms of time, and incorrectly labeled packages. We wound up having to switch to another provider who had the capabilities we needed.

This company has no clue how to process EDI.

1.0 7 years ago

Comments: Very little.

Pros:

There is nothing to like. I cannot say one good thing about this company or its offerings. Once it is working it does basically what it should. Do not expect anything more.

Cons:

Customer support is slow and clueless. The second level takes forever to respond. These people do not get that a PO not making it to the vendor is an urgent issue and needs to be resolved same day. Thank god we do use integrated, several of our vendors have expressed nightmares implementing integrated XML solution. Two of our vendors had enough, they bought in house EDI solution and replaced SPS. Not one of out 30 or so trading partners like SPS. Reporting is the worst and web site slow. I swear this company is attempting to destroy EDI by replacing it with their own proprietary software, which is horrible. Do not attempt to implement SPS solution without an independent EDI implementation specialist. When was hired, I spent the first year fixing the implementation and redoing all transaction guidelines. Many opportunities were missed due to lack of on-site knowlege of how EDI works. Misplaced trust was put in SPS to provide EDI knowledge, support and processing.
