QB still remains the Boss of Accounting Software Systems!

4.0 6 months ago

Comments: I am enjoying using the online version and look forward to all the incentives for bringing and setting up clients, like revenue share and affiliate commissions. QB still remains the easiest and most valued bookkeeping software that I will recommend. There are video tutorials for literally everything.

Pros:

I love how everything updates automatically for the client when entering as the accountant. Bank reconciliations are an absolute breeze as well when you link bank accounts.

Cons:

I miss being able to use the standard shortcuts that are available with the desktop version making things easier to keep your hands on the keyboard for faster entry. I am learning a few alternatives though as I go.

Alternatives Considered: Zoho CRM and FreshBooks

Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: Expanding my clients and needed to upgrade my desktop software anyways. Plus QB Accountant is free for what I need currently and I receive revenue shares and affiliate commissions.

Switched From: QuickBooks Desktop

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: QB is the most trusted product and customer service is always available. For the price it is the best option.

Quickbooks Really Has It All

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Everything in one place, financially feel secure with seamless invoicing and client records.

Pros:

I like having my invoices all in one place. I do not utilize all of the add-ons, however, it seems that Quickbooks has everything a small business would need to be successful. Payroll, mileage, Payment acceptance, and end of year tax prep is all available. The customer service is always helpful!

Cons:

I didn't like the update of the online portal, but i am getting used to the new layout.

Alternatives Considered: Quicken

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: I liked the user interface and layout of the overall app and webpage. Integrates well with other applications.

Overpriced, Poor Support, and Billing Issues – Not Worth It

1.0 2 months ago

Comments: Customer support is a dealbreaker for me. Since QuickBooks failed in this area, I’ve moved to a better platform. If you’re okay with paying high fees and tolerating poor support just to have the QuickBooks brand, the software itself is solid. But for me, it wasn’t worth the headache.

Pros:

It's an accounting software with all of the features that a small to medium sized business could need. Integrations, mobile app and built-in payment processing to name a few. Probably the only one on the market that has all of these features combined.

Cons:

It has a lot of hidden downsides: 1- Subscriptions get pricey real fast, especially if you work with multiple currencies or if you have payroll. 2- Customer service is a joke to them, people on the phone can't really help with technical issues other than logging in remotely and pointing to things. Their email support is also not very helpful as you can't reply to it. To me, they make it very clear that support, is not a conversation, but rather a reiteration of their terms and conditions. 3- For an accounting software, they make a lot of mistakes in their subscription billing. For instance, after canceling a $60/month subscription for one business, I was charged $60/month for another, with fewer features. When I reported this, they refused to correct the issue, citing policy.

I Do Not Recommend

1.0 3 months ago

Comments: Horrible. Seems like yet another company interested only in their bottom line. Not their customers, not their products, not their employees.

Pros:

Once you get the hang of it, it's an acceptable solution.

Cons:

The link between my bank and my QBO instance breaks every single day. Why I'm forced to click an 'Update' button instead of it automatically updating something like once an hour is crazy, too. Not intuitive. If you think you're going to be able to manage your books using QBO without any finance or business background, think again. If you are starting off with relatively little experience, expect to watch hours upon hours of tutorial videos and essentially train yourself to do the job of a finance manager, bookkeeper, or accountant. Customer service/support is beyond horrible. I scheduled to have someone call me several weeks ago. At the time that I was expecting a call, I received an email indicating that my appointment had been changed to a week later. I emailed the representative, but received no reply. At the time of that appointment, no one called me. This is after numerous emails and texts to remind me of the appointment. So, I called the main number myself and was passed around from one person to another, often ending up with the "Payments Team" who after some discussion said, "I don't know why they would've transferred you to me." I asked to speak to manager/supervisor. I was informed that I'd be on hold for a while. I asked if they could just call me at a later time and was told, "that's not how the process works." I plan to close my QuickBooks accounts and will be sure not to use any of Intuit's services moving forward.

QBO review

4.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: I used QBO for many years and it made the Accounting part of the business very transparent. The dashboard was easy to see the day to day cashflow.

Pros:

It was extremely user friendly. The dashboard took the guess work out of cash flow and the reports were very easy to use.

Cons:

It is a little too user friendly. Someone without a lot of Accounting experience can go in and make changes without understanding the ramifications. Also the issues with multi currency made it harder to use.

Overall,does what it should do...

4.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

Easy to use from anywhere you need to login with tons of features

Cons:

There are some regular bugs happening and the snap receipt option is lacking in terms of user management and recognition algorithms. In addition their processing fee is high for businesses with large amounts of transactions

Alternatives Considered: FreshBooks

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Similar features with a bit more years of experience behind their product (leading to more app integrations, slightly less bugs etc)

It's Not The Platform, It Is The Community

4.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: I have used other platforms like Xero and KPMG Spark, but they were even more difficult to use than QuickBooks Online. Additionally, the large number of people available to provide support and additional accounting services cannot compare to the other platforms.

Pros:

It is an end-to-end platform that can help make sure every aspect of the back office aspect of your business is supported, from general bookkeeping to HR, payroll, and even benefits. Everything is in there.

Cons:

The platform is not overly intuitive for new users. Due to the amount of customization you can create, no two systems are the same, and it is very easy to make issues you do not realize until months or years later.

Alternatives Considered: Puzzle and Xero

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: It was the best of the worst. Honestly, we would love a more modern AI-driven solution that did not always require us to bring in bookkeepers and accountants to clean things up. That is a BIG reason we are looking at Puzzle.io right now.

Excellent Product

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: Overall, switching from the desktop version to the online version has been great. I am able to do work on stuff from here in our office and our remote accountant is able to complete tasks from wherever he is. It has been a significant improvement for us.

Pros:

What I like most about QuickBooks Online is the ease of access from wherever I need to access it as well as all approved users being able to access online rather than having to be in our office on our server.

Cons:

What I like least about QuickBooks Online was simply having to learn how to use if after switching over from an outdated desktop version. We did not keep up with updates so it was very much like learning an entirely new system for me.

QBO is a game changer!

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Overall, QuickBooks Online has been a game changer. It takes so much of the stress out of bookkeeping. Clients love how it frees up their time, automates processes, and simplifies tax prep. It’s easy to use once you’re up and running, and the ability to see exactly where your money is going with clear reports makes managing a business way less overwhelming. For me, it’s an essential tool I recommend to almost everyone.

Pros:

The automation is a lifesaver. It pulls in bank transactions automatically, which means no more manual data entry. The ability to attach receipts directly to expenses is a huge bonus too, especially when it’s time for taxes. Everything’s in one place, and the reports are quick to run, giving a clear snapshot of your business whenever you need it.

Cons:

The learning curve can be a bit steep at first, especially if you’re moving from Excel or another system. Some clients have felt a little overwhelmed getting everything set up, but once you’re past that, it’s really smooth. Also, the pricing can feel high for small businesses just starting out, especially if you add on extra features like payroll.

Alternatives Considered: Xero

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: We considered Xero, but went with QuickBooks Online because it’s just easier to use for clients who aren’t accountants. The payroll features are more streamlined, and the support in Canada is better, which makes a big difference. Plus, the automatic bank feeds save a lot of time, and everything just feels more intuitive.

Best Accounting Software in the Industry for Business Owners

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: I have been using them for years, I highly recommend them. They are the industry standard for accounting software because they are so well known and used. It makes my CPA's life and mine so easy come tax season. It takes less than 30 minutes to prepare, and all I have to do is print out my monthly and year end P&L.

Pros:

I love the mobile app which makes it super easy to review expenses and income live time and make sure things are categorized correctly. It is very intuitive to use, and saves me so much time. And provides peace of mind of knowing my financials for my business are right at my fingertips on my phone or computer.

Cons:

I had a glitch in bank accounts re-synching after an upgrade in software the other year. Which caused myself and my bookkeeper some extra work at the end of the year to reconcile, but the updates were worth it.

Alternatives Considered: Xero

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: The ease, and the universal standard for accounting.

Best Software For Business

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: My overall experience has been a positive one. It has everything I need to run a small business. It gives a sense of relief. I Do

Pros:

I really oved using QuickBooks Online. I started a small business selling my sewn goods and QuickBooks helped me with so much. It made it easy to keep an eye on the money coming in, how much I was spending on supplies. It also helped me plan for saving for taxes as well at the end of the year. I really enjoyed how it tracked inventory and made it easy to make estimates and invoices.

Cons:

Sometimes the online version would have connection issues and I would have trouble login into my account.

Alternatives Considered: FreshBooks

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: I loved the pricing and all the features it had to offer.

QuickBooks on Impact!

4.0 5 months ago

Comments: My overall experience with QuickBooks Online was positive. It’s an intuitive and efficient platform that streamlined many bookkeeping tasks, from invoicing to bank reconciliations. Its cloud-based design allowed me to manage finances remotely, which was invaluable for keeping up with real-time data and collaborating effectively with the team at Impact. The automated features, like recurring transactions and direct bank feeds, saved time and reduced the risk of errors. While there were occasional limitations, like slower speeds during peak times and some restricted advanced features, QuickBooks Online was an effective tool that met most of our business needs and improved our overall financial management.

Pros:

As a Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant, what I liked most about QuickBooks Online was its user-friendly interface and cloud accessibility. It allowed me to manage financial data in real-time from anywhere, which was especially helpful when coordinating with clients remotely. QuickBooks Online also made reconciling accounts and generating reports straightforward and efficient, which streamlined the bookkeeping process and improved accuracy.

Cons:

What I liked least about QuickBooks Online was its occasional lag, especially during peak usage times. This could slow down workflows, particularly when working on larger files or when multiple users were accessing the account simultaneously. Additionally, some advanced features are limited or only available in higher-tier plans, which sometimes meant workarounds were necessary for more complex accounting tasks.

Best Software for Businesses, however not for personal finances

4.0 6 months ago

Comments: I had purchased multiple accounts after speaking with a representative. I did one for our business, and they had told me that I could manage our personal finances on the other one. I found that using this software to try and manage personal finances was not as great as other software out there. However for business, this is hands down the best software that I had used. I recommend this for businesses, however do not recommend them for personal finances to help build budgets and have more control.

Pros:

Quickbooks has great automation features and the ability to connect a wide range of accounts for your business.

Cons:

As a newer customer not as familiar with QuickBooks, I found that navigating at times was sometimes difficult until you learn the buttons or locations.

Alternatives Considered: Quicken

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: I have always heard about quickbooks for business. When I reached out to a QuickBooks rep, they were able to explain how the software could help me. The only downside to that is they had also told me that I could use this for keeping track of our personal finances. I found for personal finances it was not as good of a software compared to others.

QBO, Why? Because I had to.

4.0 6 months ago

Comments: QuickBooks online is easy to use. The auto shorting of my transactions to their vendors makes bookkeeping painless. There are a few times that I wish the system would not have done something for me but was easy to correct.

Pros:

Easy to access my books any where. If I am traveling, I can pull up information on my phone or my laptop. No need to have that .QBO file. I just need internet.

Cons:

Although I love the flexibility I have with QBO. I did not like that I really had no other option. I could not update my desktop version without paying for Enterprise(which I do not need). The only thing I could do was move to the cloud. I would have liked to choose for myself.

Alternatives Considered: Sage Accounting

Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: I was told that I had no option but to switch.

Switched From: QuickBooks Desktop

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: It was the closest to the system that I was already comfortable with.

Great Accounting Software for Entrepreneurs

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Very easy to use and setup even for a novice, non-finance person.

Pros:

Love the easy to use interface and integrations with all of the financial institutions I use. Also makes payroll and paying business taxes a breeze by not just tracking these amount but also paying directly from QBO.

Cons:

Cash flow projects are terrible. A key feature that is missing, that would be great to have, would be to track upcoming monthly bills and expenses to see the impact future bills will have on cash position. I currently have to track this separately outside of QBO.

Alternatives Considered: Zero

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Familiar with the brand having used Intuit products for tax preparation in the past. Pricing was reasonable and didn't seem to be missing any critical features.

User friendly Quickbooks for Small Business

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: What really sets QuickBooks Online apart, is its array of video tutorials. Whenever I've hit a snag or needed a little extra guidance, the video tutorials have been a lifesaver. They're easy to follow, breaking down complex tasks into simple, step-by-step instructions. This feature has significantly reduced my troubleshooting time and helped me become more confident in using the software.

Pros:

I absolutely love Quickbooks for its user-friendly interface and extensive resources that make managing finances quick and easy along with a fantastic array of video tutorials

Cons:

I believe Quickbooks should create a few standard chart of account with sub categories to help new inexperience users get started in managing their accounts with ease.

Convenient and User-Friendly

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Overall, my experience with QuickBooks Online has been very positive. It’s a powerful tool that balances ease of use with robust functionality. The accessibility and integrations have significantly improved my ability to manage finances efficiently. While there are occasional challenges in navigating the reporting features, they are outweighed by the benefits the software provides. Over time, as you get used to its layout and features, it becomes an indispensable tool for financial management.

Pros:

What I like most about QuickBooks Online is its ease of use, making it accessible even for those who aren’t accounting experts. The fact that I can access it from anywhere is incredibly convenient, especially when I need to manage finances on the go. The integrations with other tools and services are also a huge plus, streamlining many aspects of my business operations.

Cons:

The downside is that sometimes it can be tricky to find the right report or to filter out the exact information I need. However, this does tend to improve as you become more familiar with the software. It’s a minor learning curve, but one worth noting.

Alternatives Considered: FreshBooks

Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: Having remote access was crucial for us and the user interface was much friendlier.

Switched From: Sage Accounting

Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Quickbooks seemed like a much bigger platform with more support and integrations.

Almost all the question about how to find user-friendly options can be found just online or from QuickBooks support forum.

Pros:

User-Friendly and Reliable, but May Struggle with Complex Business Needs

5.0 4 months ago

Comments: We’ve had a positive experience with QuickBooks Online. It’s reliable, user-friendly, and has become an essential tool for our accounting needs. We review our subscriptions annually, and it’s a service we plan to keep using due to its functionality and ease of use.

Pros:

QuickBooks Online is extremely user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to manage our finances. The cloud-based access is convenient, and it integrates well with other software, streamlining our accounting processes. It’s great for invoicing, tracking expenses, and generating financial reports quickly.

Cons:

Some advanced features are only available in the accounting view, which can be limiting for users who may also have accounting responsibilities but don’t have access to this view. Additionally, as your business grows in size or complexity, especially with multiple subsidiaries, QuickBooks Online may not be robust enough to handle more intricate financial requirements.

Not as intuitive or user friendly as I'd hoped

3.0 5 months ago

Comments: If I had a chance to consider other accounting options for my business, I would absolutely look into them. I've found Quickbooks to be marketed as an easy to use tool for small business, but the reality there's way more technical knowledge that isn't particularly clear how to use, and I would imagine most people will run into things they aren't sure how to solve, and thus Quickbooks is trying to make more money on the back end by charging for help to use their tool.

Pros:

I like that in theory, it's set up for relatively easy access as a small business with an affordable price for the basic package, I like the interface, but it is quite a bit more complex than I'd first thought.

Cons:

Quickbooks has so many things built-in that aren't clear how to use for a small business owner without lots of experience with the platform or accounting. There are features that are excluded in the basic package which seem like unreasonable limitations. Making revisions within Quickbooks to invoices/payments in the past without having it impact your account reconciliation is not clear and can be quite frustrating. The fact that Quickbooks charges for assistance for things like that is silly - the product isn't intuitive or clear enough to not provide free customer support. The reality is that it's not user friendly enough to stumble through without help, so I've had to work with my CPA/business consultant to solve certain issues which is equally frustrating.

Works well but frustrating updates

4.0 6 months ago

Comments: Overall I don't mind it, and I get what I need from the system for invoicing and payments, as well as expense tracking. What I really do not like is the constant changes and updates without notice - especially when it affects the layout and I have to relearn how to use it.

Pros:

For the most part the system is simple to use, and it easily lets us send invoices and receive payments from our customers.

Cons:

I really dislike the constant aesthetic changes to the site, especially when there was no reason to make a change. For example, a more recent change was "updating to a more modern look" - but it completely changed the layout of our invoicing screen, making it much more difficult to navigate and make sure all the required items are put in correctly. Also, you don't have the option to change the layout back to a previous version - you're just stuck with the new one - which is so frustrating. It seems like as soon as you get used to one thing changing they make another change - without notice - and you have to learn the system all over again. In my work I truly don't have time to relearn how to use a system that should be easy to use. Very frustrating.
