Clinician's Perspective of MDToolbox

Comments: Excellent. I rely on this tool very heavily in my practice, and recommend it to others needing an EPCS-capable prescribing tool.

Pros:

Very easy to use, and quite reliable. The EPCS capability is a huge plus for my practice.

Cons:

Sometimes difficult to find particular pharmacies.

Great Out of the box solution

Pros:

Easy to setup, easy to maintain and train providers and does the job it is setup to do.

Cons:

Flexibility in integrations and customizations

Overpriced tool! No refund if provider no longer needs access

Pros:

It is hard to say. The billing is confusing. Program is overpriced.

Cons:

They trick you into signing yearly contract and if provider is no longer using the MDToolbox account they won't refund. In our case 6 months were paid ahead of time and they wont refund.

Better than I expected

Comments: searching for an eRx and not having my practice in an institution it was confusing finding an application and learning what steps are needed to be validated to prescribe. That wasn't a function of mdtoolbox but of learning what I would need mdtoolbox or any provider of eRx solutions to provide. MDToolbox handled that process. Although there are a few rough spots setting up and then using the application has been much less complicated and difficult than I had expected. There were a couple instances when I couldn't locate the pharmacy from their list. I contacted support which helped me find what I needed. not intuitive at those instances but otherwise has been useful effective and easy. Also cost though significant isn't crazy.

Pros:

once each patient's demographics are input and the first medication is prescribed it is generally very easy to repeat. with controlled meds there is the second step to validate but that is also fairly quick and easy. it took a little while to figure out once a med is chosen to refill what the steps are to check two boxes and then select "complete" to prepare sending the rx. sometimes a patient's name isn't listed when sending a prescription but the "search patient" option works. It sometimes isn't visible for some reason but when scrolling the patient list it eventually shows up.

Cons:

sometimes the app selects a different pharmacy such as one used months earlier. other times it can be nearly impossible to find the correct pharmacy in the app especially with large chain pharmacies with many stores...sometimes store number helps make sure it's the right pharmacy and searching is almost always better not entering normal identifying information but DO ENTER THE ZIP CODE FIRST THING. After using the application for a long time I discovered that I can make pharmacies favorite pharmacy one or two or three for the patient....and have each patient have a short list of repeatedly used pharmacies. Not at all easy to provide instructions for compounded medications.

Economical and User Friendly Electronic Prescriptions

Comments: Except for the fear of having a problem on a weekend, it has been a positive experience. I tried a different program the first time and had endless problems. Since I have used MDToolbox, my life has been much simpler.

Pros:

The price and ease of setting it up and using it. It is reliable. If I have a problem, there is good customer support.

Cons:

That it isn't 24/7 support. If I have a problem on a weekend, which I rarely do, I have no way to access support. This is most difficult as some of the medications I write are for patients who do not live close by. This means that the only way to write a prescription is to send them a handwritten copy which would take 1-3 days, even if overnight.

A good product for medical-psychiatric practice

Comments: Knowing that I had to find an electronic prescription in California to prescribe control drugs, MDToolbox-Rx was the first one I encountered and was recommended by fellow physicians in other specialties, soon after I began to gain experience with MdToolbox-RX I began to prescribe all the medications and now I very seldom use a paper perscription

Pros:

The login to get to the program where all my patients are located is simple, very safe, and protects the privacy of the patient and myself. The fact that you have a complete history of the patienet medications is an excellent tool to determine if patienet have been taking the medications regularly as prescribed

Cons:

So far, I have not had any bad experiences when I use the MDtoolbox-RX it provide a sense of comfort knowing the te pharmacy and only the pharmacy knows the medication plan and as I select a patient is right on my eyes

Getting it done

Comments: It really saved us. I can’t begin to tell you how much time this saves us compared to the overly clunky way we used to do it. Without reservations I can say it saves at least 1 to 2 hours a day based on what we were doing before.

Pros:

It’s web based. I can do it on any web platform.

Cons:

This is a non-issue…. Because it’s a necessity. Changing passwords frequently. But honestly, that’s the most annoying thing. Everything else is pretty good.

Completely satisfied with MDToolbox-Rx

Comments: I use this program daily and makes my job much more streamlined. This program reduces the chances of having prescriptions taken, destroyed, or lost. Overall, I''ve had no complaints on this program and I would recommend it to any provider looking for a safe and effective way to prescribe medications.

Pros:

I like how this program because it is easy and straightforward in terms of use. It includes all of the medications I have chosen to prescribe and offers many other added features. Our practice prescribes MAT (medicated assisted treatment).Prescribing straight to pharmacies without problems with either sending/receiving has been invaluable. The patients appreciate the service as much as we do.

Cons:

There are not really any cons so far. I have been completely pleased.

Easiet eRx tool

Comments: Love the ease of use and the security of it. Intuitive platform. Alerts you when a pharmacy requests a refil.

Pros:

It is very easy to log in and prescribe medications for patients. It is intuitive and easy to navigate. Controlled substance prescribing works well on the desktop version. I have recommended it to several colleagues who have really liked it as well.

Cons:

The mobile version is clunky. Can't prescribe controlled substances from it. Does not allow for facial recognition sign. Would be great if it can be integrated with EMR.

Best of the available options

Comments: good. best option out there for a stand alone program.

Pros:

ease of implementation, ease of use. intuitive.

Cons:

ICD 10 diagnosis generator is flawed and not operational. We need to always Google search an ICD 10 diagnosis code to input into the program

Use for telemedicine

Comments: Makes my practice functional.

I use this daily. Telepsychiatry would be impossible without it.

Comments: I was not eager to switch from paper but I am very satisfied with the application on my laptop or desk top. I still have not mastered the ability to use it on my phone. first, because I don't have the ability to save the password that changes every few months, and then likely, if I am not doing it at my desk, I can't access my password folder from the phone.

Pros:

the ease of use, the reliability, tracking of meds.

Cons:

I would like the website to be a little more forgiving. for example, if I need to change pharmacies for patients, which is common with all the drug shortages, it is not aways user friendly.

Great eRx system

Comments: Overall efficient and easy to use.

Pros:

Overall I like the ease of prescribing through this system. Once a patient is entered, it is easy to renew prescriptions and write new ones as well. I don't spend too much time sending scripts compared to other electronic systems I've used.

Cons:

The system for entering new patients could be improved. Their name, address, birthday, and preferred pharmacy are not together in a format that is easy to follow. You have to look for the fields which is extra effort. Also difficult initially finding the preferred pharmacy. It would make more sense to search by the zip code and see all pharmacies there to choose from.

User/Administrator

Pros:

Web Based program. Can use from multiple devices and locations.

Cons:

Speed. Cannot make global changes such as changing a clump of prescriptions to historical from active, without a page reload each time. This makes the process very slow.

Easy to use, does the job.

Comments: Great program, user friendly, does the job. I'm happy with it.

MD Toolbox is user friendly. It satisfies the Feds demand for an e prescribing program.

I wish that you didn't use the same arrow to print as to look up patient medications, should be a different button.

I prescribe for my patients due to MDTOOLBOX-RX

Pros:

I like how easy it is to set up providers and set up the practice favorite prescriptions. After setting up the routine prescriptions we prescribe we can send our prescriptions in in seconds. The fobs that we use makes verification easy. Now we never have a pharmacy say they did not receive our prescriptions. We also are current with the state DEA requirements for class II prescriptions thanks to this software

Cons:

Nothing yet, because they have taken good care of us.

Great tool for busy practice

Comments: It has been a great asset to my practice. I am grateful for this product.

Pros:

It is easy to use to send out prescriptions in a timely manner. I like the warnings and cautions it provides if a medicine is too soon to prescribe or has interactions. The software to translate my prescription jargon is very accurate.

Cons:

The search tool, when searching a patient's name is very restrictive to correct spelling and not by first name look up.

Comments: Smooth. Have appreciated customer service, when needed.
