Perfect Platform for Small Batch Mailing

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: This is a core part of my communication toolkit. While I still use other mailing list platforms for specific purposes, this solves very specific bulk mailing needs.

Pros:

I use this program for lists which have small and specifically targeted audiences. This mainly includes press lists for producing events, and for teaching large classes or workshops. It allows me to create simple mailings where I do not want a lot of noise or fuss, more like direct mail as opposed to broadcasting a message. It's the perfect scale and I love the ease of understanding the reporting, which becomes of direct benefit for following up and moving between lists. It functions for me like the perfect basic database for supporting the ways I need to communicate.

Cons:

At this point I don't have a lot of complaints, as I've been using it for probably a decade. The cloud synchronization has been greatly improved more recently. I often send things which are just this side of plain text for ease of reading and sharing the content with the audiences I send to, and I do find that it's best to bring in any text unformatted and do the formatting within Direct Mail as the styles can get funky when one copies and pastes.

Superb Mailing App!

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Really enjoy using Direct Mail and the results it produces.

Pros:

Love the easy to use yet stylish interface all without using any code. Very consistent appearance in just about every email client.

Cons:

Would love to be able to see Direct Mail sync Email Groups and subscription status with Apple Contacts app or BusyContacts apps. This would allow Contacts to keep a linked record of address statuses in Direct Mail.

Directmail for Marketing Books

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: Positive. Allows me to do broadcasts to wide audience and get seen idea of how it is race red at recipients end.
Only about 66% of my recipients actually do open the mail and I suspect that's because they're the message on cheri smartphones and delete without fully opening the email.

Pros:

Fairly easy to compose messages. Adding attachments and pictures is fairly straight-forward (once you have the hang of it. Help people proved very helpful a few years back when I was trying to install my smtp Account.

Cons:

Organizing addresses can be cumbersome, copying from a previous list to a new one. I've never figured out how to produce smart lists, but I don't think that's Directmail's fault!

Sending mails from an external database was easier before

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: Time

Pros:

It is doing what I want. Connect to an external database, send mail via an externa provider. But things are not working so well. The thing is that data in database are evolving and, in the new version, I have to re-right the request to the database each time in different adress group coming from different database. Spam test is not working. Preferences ares sometime not kept, situation on the screen for exemple.

Cons:

Again it does exactly what i want but less easier than previous version . Main point is database connection.

Excellent and quick tool for managing email communication to groups

5.0 8 months ago

Pros:

Direct Mail's native application interface is so much smoother to use and quicker than online systems. I regularly use MailChimp and HubSpot for outbound email as well, but for certain purposes Direct Mail is a real winner. It's really a good tool for designing nice looking email newsletters. The reporting is pretty good as well. There's a really elegant mixture of cloud-based services (the email sending and report viewing) and native application.

Cons:

I do wish it was a little easier to share control of campaigns and lists with another Mac users.

This makes marketing possible for me.

5.0 3 years ago

Pros:

This software is really really great! It helps me manage my e-mail database without any effort on my part. People can subscribe directly and unsubscribe without me having to even get an e-mail. Also the flexibility to pay per e-mail while I build my database up to scale and can send them out with at yearly fee is super helpful. I struggled to get my newsletter off the ground with other software, but with this option I got my newsletter out every month last year. The templates look great and it allows me to create the content without much hassle.

Cons:

I haven't found anything about this software that I do not like.

Comments: I use it for everything regarding my newsletters. Managing subscribers, editing emails, evaluate tracking.

Pros:

Runs as a client on your computer. No need to use a terrible web interface. Works offline. Greatest tracking features I have seen so far. Different useful options in pricing. Intuitive usage. Option to use your own SMTP server.

Cons:

Should offer usage of European servers and/or a solution to host your own subscriber database.

One word: excellent

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Very very good. Combination support, documentation and ease of use make it a positive experience

Pros:

WYSIWYG editor Tracking opens and being able to generate list of emails 'not opened' on a campaign Support is excellent

Cons:

A bit expensive copy paste from word to editor unexpected results where formatting differs and is difficult and time consuming to change Inability to 'save-as' a word document. We collaborate and the common platform is word. Currently have to view online, save-as, export into a word document which has lots of formatting issues. A simple 'SAVE-AS' (word / PDF) would be an appreciated feature.

The Goldilocks EMP

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I recommend DirectMail as an EMP solution to all of my Mac-based clients.

Pros:

DirectMail speeds workflow with a dead simple drag-and-drop interface and heaps of other time-saving features not found in online EMPs.

Cons:

If I had to pick a least favorite aspect of DirectMail then it would be the sync time with the cloud.

Excellent application. Fairly easy to use. Good interface design.

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Best means (by which users are honored in terms of their time for messaging) to communicate with various constituents.

Cons:

Often have to retype names of messages as the app updates indiscriminately. Would love to be able to stop sending, then start again without starting at the beginning of the mailing list.

Great tool for email campaigns and management.

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: We are happy to work this software, and the people behind it. Subscriptions models are expensive, and we wish that a change will occur in the future, on that aspect. We feel that this software has more unrealized potential, like a better and more comprehensive design (similar to Big Sur+).

Pros:

We can customize the email templates through the html code. Whatever we build it will work with every device out there. Email list management is one of our favourite features. Honest analytics is critical and we love them.

Cons:

We cannot fully customize the forms, therefore we are not utilize them, so we are loosing a lot of the software's capacities. It's a shame.

A great all-around DM solution

5.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Great Templates, Ease of use and customization, Very good analytics. Renders very well on all kinds of devices and there's plenty of additional testing functions. The automatic management of unsubscribers is also very handy. For someone with zero previous DM experience but wanting to send out a weekly newsletter this is fantastic value for money.

Cons:

Can't think of anything specific even though I would like to group reports (i.e. comparing flights of the same campaign or issues of the same newsletter. Presently I export to Excel but it would be practical to have these inside.

Alternative to MailChimp

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: Wonderful! Amazing app and great experience so far.

Pros:

It is very easy to use and provides the basic bells and whistles needed to track any campaign.

Cons:

I know it is not possible, but there needs to be a way to track reasons why a person would file a report. I've experienced people I've known well reporting me, rather than merely unsubscribing. One I called up and she said she did it by accident. Not even sure how that can be an accident, but ok. It would help to understand user behavior with clear reasons to get a better sense of what I might have done wrong with a user, so I can avoid certain pitfalls in the future.
