Comprehensive but complicated

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: ActiveNet can be a good tool for parks and recreation. It has comprehensive features and functions that fit an agency's needs. But the customization is limited and the learning curve is challenging. Plus, the complexity of the user interface and managing data prevents users from fully using all the features.

Pros:

A lot of features. Online registration is convenient. Converting all programs to InDesign for marketing is easy. Customer service is very responsive.

Cons:

ActiveNet is an old platform and its user interface looks like early 2000s and is complicated. The data management is difficult. There are too many settings and parameters for pulling a report. Some reports are in tabular format Excel but many are not, especially revenue reports, which are impossible to be integrated into other financial or data management. To learn a specific function of ActiveNet is not difficult, but the learning curve to use ActiveNet effectively is challenging. Customization is limited, we often need to adjust our programs or facilities to fit the modules.

If Only There Were ZERO Stars

1.0 10 months ago

Comments: This might be the least user-friendly software I've ever used. In 20 years of tracing inventory, POS and events, I've never seen anything worse.

Pros:

Our homeowners can register for events and purchase tickets.

Cons:

Literally everything else. No one has ever been able to properly explain the pricing structure. I am unable to run registration reports and no one can help us troubleshoot. The customer service department is terrible (long wait times, ineffective and zero follow up). And the member interface/search engine is horrible.

Does the job

4.0 10 months ago

Pros:

Their customer support is very helpful. Most of the basic functionality is there and does the job.

Cons:

Doesn't allow for much customization on website or customization within. And if you can it is not easy to find. There are solutions but require us to often to reach out to Activenet support. Would love to see this be more user friendly. Would love to see a more customizable URL that can be given to customers for example www.fernierecreation.ca rather than this long URL that is not user friendly.

Great Basic Registration System

3.0 10 months ago

Pros:

Great for basic class registration and membership tracking.

Cons:

Certain reports are harder to pull up/find than others, and are not clear. Too many functions/buttons for certain categories. Scholarships get overrided when making changes to a schedule. Not easy for a low-to-average computer user.

Lots of features, lots of learning

3.0 10 months ago

Comments: Overall our experience has been pretty good. I still prefer it to the previous recreation registration software we used. Billing has been a frustrating process, with much miscommunication.

Pros:

ActiveNet is very versatile in that there are many things you can do with it.

Cons:

The set-up and often use of it isn't always intuitive. Any time we want to implement something new within it we have to dedicate a lot of time for learning, set-up and training of staff on it.

Claremont Parks and Recreations Review

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: Overall, it has been good. Nothing to large to complain about.

Pros:

I have learned the software and I know and understand it better then any other software. It does everything we need in a Recreation Management Software.

Cons:

Reporting is sometimes difficult, especially when being asked to pull specific details regarding memberships, and programs.

ActiveNet was the solution for us!

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: This has been the easiest to use event software I've ever encountered, and it has been critical to our success in the Facility Events department. While there a few features it lacks, it backs those up with one of the best calendar systems I have experienced along with robust reporting capabilities.

Pros:

The calendar is very well designed, enabling users to view space availability in separate calendars and incorporate crucial information like setup time, attendance, type of event, etc.

Cons:

We wish there was a timeline or event detailing feature that allowed us to go more in depth with the various event logistics.

A mountain worth climbing

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: I am enjoying learning the program and all it has to offer. Looking forward to the day I am comfortably familiar with everything.

Pros:

Customer support is great and once you understand the program, it feels more user friendly.

Cons:

Figuring out the "whys" of how something is setup. Active web support can be a bit of a challenge to find specifics.

Reporting, reporting, reporting...

4.0 9 months ago

Pros:

The reporting options in ActiveNet are unending.

Cons:

Some reports that are exports to Excel need work. Lots of unnecessary columns and text meant for one cell is exports to an additional cell in the row below (creating a whole extra row as well).

Small City Usefulness

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: We had a really intensive set up and training process with our Active Net representative, so we weren't totally on our own.

Pros:

We like that it integrates many different city functions into one overall platform for all employees to use. We can also limit functions for certain employees to maintain simplicity.

Cons:

As with any new platform, it can be tough to learn the most efficient ways to navigate through the platform. We also had to build every component from scratch.

Implemented and used activenet after switching from CLASS for six plus years. it was quite good.

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Once I got used to activenet, I really like a lot of what it could do. our initial set up caused problems from the start and we did not properly set up (based on how rep suggested) to maximize ease of use. I love the roster reports, booking was easy to do, as was registrations, membership sales. Editing information on the clients was very easy. when things went well, Activenet worked okay for us. calendar views were an awesome tool to see what was in the facility for the day and the totals reports were really prowerful. it was great to be able to generate reports in a variety of formats.

Cons:

customer service was slim to none for the majority of our time. We only had a dedicated person for a small window of time to help show us and train us on how to advance the functionality of the programme. initial logistical problems in set up stalled our progress without the product. promises of bridging with current accounting software did not ever happen. As was the promise of bridging with red cross classes, which class did, was another thing that never happened. Helpline improved for last year of use, which was great, but kinda too late. Activenet had a habit of running updates, and not letting us know. Changes to our system would occur and we would have no idea how to troubleshoot and then have to wait several days for help from activenet. (via email or phone) Contract was renewed without our organization being consulted (you cannot automatically renew a contract without consultation) and then, when we heard our fees would be increased, with no promises of anything improved for our end, we opted to seek other software that may better fit our needs. Too bad because there are many many parts of Activenet I really liked, and really miss!

RTP|One - Ski Resort and FB

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: ACTIVE is helping us facilitate our Ski and Food and Beverage operations. Ultimately we hope to roll it out across our district which includes a very large recreation district along with the previously mentioned operations.

Pros:

SQL Database Once you grasp the product/system hierarchy it is somewhat easy to navigate and troubleshoot throughout the system as needed. As far as Ski Resort solutions go, RTP is it.

Cons:

E commerce platform is lacking in flow and functionality. This seems to be known issue within ACTIVE and is said to be something that will be resolved moving forward. If this is not resolved internally, it can be handled by partnering with someone like AspenWare.

Lack of Features, Outdated Appearance and Poor Customer Service

2.0 4 years ago

Comments: Customer Service Representatives were very difficult to understand with their heavy accents. The online help search was next to impossible to find the subject you needed.

Pros:

I would not say that I had any "pros" with the software. Daily use was a struggle and very frustrating.

Cons:

I found all of the functions and set up very difficult. The function to add any image/artwork was nearly impossible and very time consuming.

Comments: I've used Active Net for three years and it was very easy to learn and help customers with.

Pros:

The features that makes it easy to use are the different categories that are clear and easy to use.

Cons:

I think that when updates are going to happen they could be described better and more thoroughly.

Use program for sports team/ community class registrations

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

It is quick and efficient since each activity is assigned a designated code. The receipts are neat and organized upon printing.

Cons:

At times, the program can be really slow to sign in on. Inputing the activities can be time-consuming and tedious.

ACTIVE NET

3.0 7 years ago

Comments: IF THERE IS ANY OTHER PROGRAM THAT I FEEL NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED, IT IS THIS ONE. CAN BE GREAT BUT NEEDS WORK.

Cons:

THIS PROGRAM HAS MANY GLITCHES AND GOES DOWN ALMOST EVERY TIME YOU USE IT WHICH MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SAVE INFORMATION STORED.

Cons:

We like using Active.net and we use it a lot. I have not heard any complaints but I could poll our employees and ask what they like the least. I'm guessing - nothing.
