End to End Enterprise BI Solution
Comments: I used Dundas BI for almost the last two years, Dundas BI is Enterprise end to end solution where you can connect to your data through wide range of data sources available and the ability to add extra data sources through its open API, Dundas BI contain embedded ETL engine to transform the data and it allows for multiple data access options (Datawarehouse, In memory analysis and direct connection to data). by using Dundas BI you can build your dashboards, reports and scorecard with friendly interface and with rich library of visualization charts from bar and pie charts and ending with relationship chart and histogram chart. Also Dundas BI allow business users to do their self service analysis with referring back to IT people, I cannot forget their customer support, they have well trained team to support their customers from incidents and issues and service request like helping us in writing Java codes to do amazing things in the solution. The tools is completely open and it is build over JS and HTML5, this is so amazing since Dundas BI is fully supported on mobiles with all mobile features like pinch to zoom and others. As Dundas BI have full Java and .Net APIs then it is very easy to integrated Dundas and embedded it in other portals and it has out the box integration with SharePoint.
Pros:
Flexible tool where you can do what ever you want, I beleive that 95% of use cases can be build in Dundas BI as quick-wins and the rest is possible through JS and HTML5.
Cons:
I wish Dundas BI to have out the box integration with web-services as this will be helpful and currently not available but it can be done through programming,
Developer-Grade Analytics Toolkit
Comments: We have authored a reporting and dashboard solution composed of 350+ reports/dashboards, and deployed that solution to clients across the U.S. and Australia. Our application is updated automatically every evening (thanks to the ease of distributing the code generated in Logi), so our clients always have the LATEST version of our solution available. We have deployed Logi servers on-premise, in the cloud (AWS and Azure), and used it to access both SQL and REST data sources.
Pros:
Tremendous flexibility and control of the "user-experience" for the solution that you develop with Logi. Can access data from a huge variety of datasources, both traditional and emerging big data and cloud. Visual development interface which creates underlying text-based code, which allows easy manipulation both for development as well as 'mass-change' editing. Text-based code is small in size and easy to distribute to remote sites for a distributed solution if required. Obfuscation of the code protects your intellectual property in the case of a commercial deployment. Developer-grade debugging capabilities greatly assist in isolating issues for quick remediation.
Cons:
Logi offers a broad range of solutions, and sometimes it can be confusing to know if new features/capabilities are available for your use under your current licenses.
Alternatives Considered: Collections Managment Module, Tableau, MicroStrategy Embedded Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics
Reasons for Choosing Logi Symphony: Microsoft did not have a way to protect our intellectual property (i.e. the source code) which lives on distributed servers in the client environment. Also, the SSRS report source code resides inside a SQL database, which makes it difficult to extract and update for a distributed application. Finally the SSRS Report Builder provides only a 'visual' development environment, so when making 'mass changes' to the application, those changes must be done one-at-a-time via the visual editor.
Reasons for Switching to Logi Symphony: Fully customizable UI for the client experience. Attractive OEM pricing structure. Developer-grade software development environment.
Good product to integrate Ad Hoc Reporting into SaaS software
Comments: I think the general help and assistance from Exago has been good so far, we are kept up to date with version releases and we have a regualr dialogue with their team which is good to see.
Pros:
We reviewed a selection of tools on the market and we felt the Exago was the product best fit our needs based on cost and functionality. We implemented Exago as a reporting tool for our customers to run real time reports and have graphical dashboards on their home screens as a kind of snapshot summary. Exago gives you the ability to create a suite of reports ready for customers to use and export in range of formats. You can also give customers express reporting so that they can tailor their own reports however this isn't something we have done just yet but will look to do so in the future. Were overall satidfied with the product and were looking forward to working with Exago in recommending further features and improvements.
Cons:
The dashboards take an incredibly long time to load and there doesn't seem to be a simple solution for fixing this just yet. Improved Map reporting would be a great addition, a number of our clients wish to view data on maps and this seems to be very limited at the moment. The UI of the dropdown filter boxes could be improved and it would be good if you could return back to your filter options after running a report if you wish to amend rather than having to run another report.
Great Value, Strong Feature Set
Pros:
Built in time period over period analysis, built in correlation matrices, ability to auto export data in various forms to excel, pdf, or other formats.
Cons:
There is no "undo" button on some pages, which makes error recovery more difficult. However, the company has already indicated they are working on a fix for this.
Alternatives Considered: Sisense, Domo, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI
Reasons for Choosing Logi Symphony: Tableau was good for us for several years, however, it lacked features we needed that are seemingly pretty basic. The price and flexibility with user licenses made our decision even easier.
Switched From: Tableau
Reasons for Switching to Logi Symphony: Price, feature set, amazing support, kindness, and knowledge from staff.
Flexible BI solution
Pros:
Super flexible Very good data preparation features Dashboard functionality You can do everything related to BI and analytics in Dundas, because of the flexible architecture
Cons:
Working with large tables (as a data visualization) can be a little bit of a pain The report designer seems a little outdated and is not very user friendly to use
Alternatives Considered: BOARD, Looker, Jaspersoft, Sisense, Domo, Yellowfin, Tableau, Zoho Analytics and Microsoft Power BI
Reasons for Switching to Logi Symphony: Because of the flexibility in Dundas and also in terms of price/value Dundas seems to us like to best solution. Also their sales/support team was outstanding in the process
Ok but not ground-breaking
Comments: We found Exago BI a satisfactory BI tool though wanted more in terms of embedded analytics.
Pros:
It was reasonably straightforward to set up and use and had a fairly clean and intuitive interface.
Cons:
Error messages were often tedious and required digging through logs. We also had some difficulties embedding reports into our own applications.
Easiest embbeded BI application to use and integrate out there
Pros:
The ease of use of the ExpressViews for our less tech-savvy users
Cons:
It is missing some features when it comes to parameter selections for a report, like multi selection in a parameter.
Alternatives Considered: Jaspersoft, Sisense, Tableau and JReport
Reasons for Choosing Logi Symphony: Easier to embed in our application
Reasons for Switching to Logi Symphony: Great customer support, easiest architecture to understand and implement, great key features.
One of the best Mid tier BI solution for your business analytics
Comments: Have always been a reliable solution to understand our business trends.
Pros:
Easy to implement and great featured added on every patches.
Cons:
Always been a great software meeting our organizational needs
Powerful reporting and analytics platforms
Comments: Izenda is our go to platform for ad-hoc reporting and analytics.
Pros:
Izenda is a complete, highly configurable, scalable and extensible reporting and analytics platform designed for today's connected collaborative cloud-based enterprise solutions backed by a strong positive management, R&D and services teams that are very easy to work it.
Cons:
Advanced reports and dashboards require a strong background in SQL and may also require some Izenda training and support.
Best Business Reporting Tool
Comments: Great product and highly recommended. Those who have been working with financial institutes or the GRC domain can make the most out of this tool in terms of addressing the reporting requirements of their customers.
Pros:
Izenda is one of the best tools when it comes to customizing reports for business users. The design layout is easy to understand and very user friendly. Users can simply drag and drop and create their own report within minutes. Highly recommended tool.
Cons:
Design layout needs to be a little bit more expanded and colors can be more effective which allows users to navigate more effectively.
A steep learning curve, with great reward at the end of it.
Pros:
Dundas is a conglomeration of expertly coded dashboard development tools and infrastructures. The thing I like most about Dundas is that they are very helpful, the gentleman assigned to me to educate me in the ways of Dundas, was one I will never forget to this day, he was calm, helpful, understanding and with his help I learned Dundas in no time. I like the way Dundas structure's its Dashboard development, it starts with virtual tables, where the programmer can manually or automatically generate SQL queries, these queries are then used for the basis of adding statistical flavour to the Dashboard, the way this is done is very straight forward. Dundas has a steep unforgiving learning curve, but when you master the fundamentals, the sky really is the limit. Also their support service is world class, the representatives will assist you in any way they can, they will help you understand what the issue you are facing is and provide a resolution. If they cant help you via email, they will 'WebEx' you, i.e skype call with 2 way screen control. Everything in Dundas is customizable, charts, graphs and other statistical data can be glossed up and made to look as simple or as plush as the user envisions. You can add formulae, trend analysis and other key statistical methods are employed by Dundas. They have charts for Finance, Risk analysis and other key statistical methodologies. All of these charts can be jazzed up with scripts so that you can Drill down and filter through the data you want in order to get the right Business Intelligence feel to your work. Dundas supports the Data Cube, It supports Microsoft, Oracle, MySQL, EXCEL, it has export capabilities onto Excel, so those clients which prefer their data in Spreadsheets can manually export directly from the dashboard. Everything in Dundas is designed to give you the most professional feel possible at all times!
Cons:
Dundas, for the good of it's users needs to publish more comprehensive educational equipment to train it's users, it is very hard to get to an expert level in Dundas without some help from your Friends in Dundas. I would love to see Dundas publish university style lectures, with step by step guides that show every aspect of the working sphere. With adequate educational material, one would be able to gain adept or even artisan status with the Tool on their own.
Dundas BI Dashboarding / visualization review after using it for 3+ years
Comments: Overall the experience is mixed but I would say when you compare it with its peers and when you look at the cost and other factors like features which the tool provides it is very useful and can be considered for your BI and reporting. It supports almost all the features of a basic BI tool.
Pros:
Dundas is a powerful BI tool . We have migrated our reports to Dundas . It has powerful Dash boarding capabilities. I personally like layering feature in dashboard, it makes life easier to show hide stuffs. Also the exporting feature to PPT and PDF is also helpful for our users to present the dashboard to their up-line team. It is also cost effective as compared to the other major players/tools in the BI space. Security feature using custom attribute is also a very useful and powerful feature.
Cons:
I believe we have limited support material available online for Dundas in the web. We have to rely only on the cube community or the support team of Dundas which sometimes make life difficult if you are stuck. We also struggled to build or Cube in the form of star schema model which is basic for any warehousing / BI requirement and we could not figure out a way as the cube brings everything in a form of process result which is ONE de-normalized table and star schema model fails in that approach.
Dundas BI - Much more than a BI tool
Comments: Overall experience is very good, I like that there is nothing that can't be done with this tool, with regards to user requirements.
Pros:
Best thing about Dundas BI is that it is very extendable to user needs and it can accomplish a lot more in a very short development time, comparing to other BI tools on the market which are not so extendable and easy to use. You can also build more than a dashboard with Dundas BI, you can also create software as a service applications with complex navigation systems and all sorts of rules applied to the visualizations and it's data. Speaking of data, it also has a very powerful ETL engine that enables data transformation without needing to know SQL or other query languages.
Cons:
These is not much to dislike at this tool but if I have to come up with an answer, I will say that the complexity of options for every visualization could be a dislike because it is very time consuming to find everything in the properties tab of each type of viz. This also may be a big like because it enables you to customize everything pixel perfect.
Great embedded BI solution
Comments: Integrating izenda 7 series has giving our product the ability to the end user to create and administer dashboards and ad hoc reporting, ultimately giving the end user better insight into their data without having to contact us for base report modifications. We essentially needed a BI tool, and this fit the bill!
Pros:
I really like their flexible architecture. They have many integration and stand alone modes that fits all scenarios. The technology stack aligns quite well with ours - so that was a plus. The visualizations and ad hoc reporting capabilities are great. The simple licensing model is a must, and very good customer support.
Cons:
The documentation on integration for both series 6 and 7 is a bit lacking - although I have seen a great push on getting it updated, its had to get any fine details. Due to this it has taken a long time for us to embed the solution properly. Although series 7 has many advantages, it is also lacking in certain areas compared to series 6. Having no export of the reports makes it hard to mange tractability with source control. 7 series is still quite immature with a lot of bugs. Performance is always a concern.

Thank you for the review and feedback. Regarding export options. Izenda supports export of reports to PDF, XLS, Word, CSV, JSON, XML
Great ad hoc reporting engine
Comments: From my perspective as a software developer who integrated Exago's software into our own, they provide many flexible features that allow you to customize the product depending on your own needs. For example, Exago provides several interfaces that allow us to manage our customer created data, where we store the reports and schedules created by our customers in our own database tables. They also provide other extensibility features, like server events that allow you to add custom code for specific events during a report execution. We have used the api to "publish" reports for use in other parts of our application, as well as replace legacy asp reports in our application with reports created in Exago. This has helped us tremendously in standardizing reports across our application in terms of the terminology used as well as the data that is returned. Now when our customers try to compare results from various reports across our application, there is much more consistency.
Pros:
We integrated Exago software as an ad hoc reporting engine for our customers. It allowed us to expose our data model to our customers and provide for them a way to create their own reports. Some of the features that we benefited from, which we did not have in our legacy solution were the ability to create custom formulas in a report and also the ability to schedule a report.
Cons:
Our data model is very large and we would like to see some future improvements on how the designer handles all of the field lists so that the designer could be more responsive.
Dundas BI
Comments: Overall I have really enjoyed my time working in Dundas BI. I have worked in a few other visualization products and haven't been able to accomplish the same things that we've accomplished in Dundas BI. I can't stress enough how flexible and customizable the product really is. The customer service is always responsive and helpful and the Dundas community forum is there to help answer questions too.
Pros:
What I love most about Dundas BI is the flexibility of the product. The product is so flexible that you can accomplish almost any of your data needs inside of Dundas BI. When the UI doesn't meet your needs you can use customized scripting to accomplish your tasks. Dundas BI has a Python Analysis transform that allows you write scripts using the Python programming language to perform analysis on data. Passing parameters or setting up different dashboard actions has never been easier.
Cons:
It takes a little bit of time to learn the product and all of its functionalities. However, they have a suite of training videos for new customers as well as additional training videos to improve your application knowledge.
Comprehensive BI = Dundas BI
Pros:
Dundas BI is the most comprehensive BI platform available (trust me, we looked at BI products for almost a year before choosing DBI). Our three main criteria when selecting a BI platform for our clients were visualizations, reports and mobile. DBI covers all three criteria (with a codicil that will show up in the "What I like least" section) and the licensing costs are reasonable. Key features that are crazy cool: 1) DBI is data-source agnostic, 2) the scripting capability allows developers to do just about anything, 3) DBI is based on HTML5 technology (other well-known BI products are based on proprietary and/or outdated technology) and 4) the DBI support team (including the development team) provides excellent customer service. For us, as a small software company, there is always the chance to second-guess the selection of a BI product. This was a critical decision for us as the BI software we deploy to our clients will directly impact the viability of our organization and our ability to stay relevant in the coming years. It is a testament to the DBI product and the Dundas team that the answer to the question "Did we select the right software?" is always a resounding "Yes".
Cons:
The one knock on DBI is the lack of a mobile app. User experience is the number one factor for us when delivering products to our clients. Currently, mobile data is delivered via web pages. DBI would be greatly enhanced if the mobile experience was via a mobile app (even if the "app" was simply a wrapper the redirects users to the web page).
small company big headache
Comments: when you are dealing with a small company one would expect better customer experience, well forget it
Pros:
it have almost everything : reports, rich dashboards and api's
Cons:
there app is so complex no one wants to use the self service nothing is simple, you need to click 5 times in 5 places for sorting a table and that is due to there use of matrix and cubes
Exago has brought a feature rich business intelligent support solution for our company's native management systems.
Comments: We have over the last year applied Exago's API and user architecture to great advantage in creating effective solutions for measuring our performance as a group and for individual workers. Though some what difficult to access , Exago's customer support has proved valuable for our company in developing applications for our native management and ad reporting performance systems. We would advise in order to insure a proper fit for your company's management software to engage with Exago's customer service a full interview in order qualify their API and development architecture as a proper fit for your company. Once that cycle and analysis is complete and the necessity for future IT cycles is reduced, we can say Exago is highly recommended.
Pros:
Exago features highly adaptable and easily integrated API. We believe the 1 year and renewable purchase licensing fees are competitive and affordable. We can , for one single year auto renewable purchase price, make applications for our systems that will apply to multiple servers.
Cons:
Exago reports that IT is unnecessary after development and integration . We have not found this to necessarily to be true. We believe Exago's customer service resources are a challenge to access.
Great product, great support, great people- Finally a solution!
Comments: After a multi-year search, we choose to use Exago as our BI reporting layer for our clients. The design of the product was very smart- almost anything can be configured and indeed we have been able to alter the look and feel of the product to match our software. Whenever there is an issue, we get a fast response, and in those times when a bug fix was required, the communication was excellent and the timeline more than reasonable. Graphs and dashboards are excellent, and the advanced report writing tool works out of the box and is easy for report administrators and even some non-programmers to use. The one downside is that when a normal report is created, pagination is required- which speeds up processing but detracts from the user experience. But overall, as a user (and as an advocate for our user's users), it's a great product, and it can't be beaten from a business model perspective and is a great value proposition.
Pros:
Configuration flexibility, Excellent QA processes, always listening to customer feedback
Cons:
Had to modify the UI (way too over-crowded/complex for most of our customers), forced pagination.
Exago Review
Pros:
Easy to setup for Customers to create their own Reports. Scheduling/Emailing Reports
Cons:
Software is embedded in a 3rd-party software and they haven't deployed all features which is a little disappointing
Overall a Good Product
Comments: Excellent
Pros:
Ease of use Intuitive design Responsive management seamless integration
Cons:
We should be able to schedule the chain reports
Alternatives Considered: Tableau
Reasons for Switching to Logi Symphony: ease of integration Pricing
Disgusted By Business Practices
Comments: We've been using it for sales analysis and determination of business trends. I had better luck using other software tools.
Pros:
The product is okay. Not perfect, but it got the job done. But I'm recommending we get rid of it.
Cons:
I don't want to discount an entire company based on one person, but there is someone named [sensitive content hidden] working there who posts some horrendous things on Twitter and YouTube. No one should employ such a horrible person, and I see no reason why we should do business with companies who hire abusive people.
Flexible architecture that provides solutions to the end-user as well as more advanced analysts.
Comments: Izenda integrates nicely into our data warehouse. We use it to provide reports and visualizations to internal and external customers. We also use it for analytics on or internal processes such as monitoring or ETL activities.
Pros:
Izenda fit well in the "good enough" domain. It answers most business analytics and reporting needs without having to hire an army of developers and/or pay a tremendous amount. The embedded analytics model lets you develop customized solutions that can be given to end-users. but it is also powerful enough that it can be used for more advanced purpose. I personally have been using Izenda for less than 6 month and the learning curve is somewhere between Tableau and Qlikview to get to the expert level. Most end-users will learn how to navigate reports and dashboards designed for them in a couple of hours as most features are quite intuitive and fit most needs.
Cons:
The onus is on the developer of Izenda's applications to design applications that are easy to use. Most complains are related to people trying to use out of the box features that need a little bit of in-depth knowledge - mainly SQL and database related - in order to use the whole potential of Izenda. Charts start to look and feel a bit outdated, but each new release brings updates that address the problem.
Easy to use ad-hoc reporting tool with great dashboarding capabilities
Comments: Exago is a great ad-hoc reporting and dash-boarding tool that continues to evolve with every new release. The tool is simple to use and allows end users to create complex reports with very little support from the development team. Exago has also been very responsive to client needs and continues to improve the product based on feedback from clients.
Pros:
- Easy to setup and use. The report designer interface is very similar to Excel, which makes it easy to use by non technical users. - Great technical support. Very responsive and timely response to inquiries. The support team is also very good with coming up with innovative solutions for complex report needs. - Improved dash-boarding capability especially following the 2018.1 version. - Ability to customize action events is very useful to implement business logic driven by report values.
Cons:
- In memory filtering of data when the semantic layer is driven by stored procedures. This causes some degradation in performance for large data sets.
