About PicMonkey
PicMonkey offers cloud-based photo editing and design tools that help your create stunning images that tell your brand story.
I love how it has everything I need in one place. Another perk is that they offer a free trial so you can mess around with it first before committing to a subscription.
But I guess the current version was created for the niche market of unsophisticated graphic design work.

PicMonkey Review
Pros:
PicMonkey is a great simple editing software for beginners. Even as a professional, I often turn to Picmonkey for cool fonts that I don't need to worry about tracking down on my own. I love the wide variety of effects one can use without needing to have an indepth knowledge of photo editing or illustrating.
Cons:
It is a bit simplistic for any professional, and any feature and more on Picmonkey could be created in Photoshop.
Alternatives Considered:
Most user friendly, inexpensive image software
Comments: Excellent, user friendly, great value for the fee, all in one place media tool. Love working with Picmonkey and won’t use anything else!
Pros:
The image and video gallery is excellent. It has a diverse set of content and we use it daily. They keep up to date with what is happening around the world and have images and video footage that we can then use in our social media and web presence. The tools are very user friendly and we love the new features that Picmonkey keeps adding to our account; remove background tool, fill text with image etc. , sound for some of the video and more. We love the Effects and Texture features because quite literally in 2 seconds you can change the feel or ambiance of a photo just by adding one of these filters. The photo edit feature is great for the money you pay. Not everyone has the time to sit and use Adobe or Lightroom etc. and navigate through the 1000’s of edit properties. Picmonkey has made edits super easy and gives you the tools you use the most in an easy to find and easy to use format. We also really like the templates already set up for us. IF we want to do just an instagram post, the template and sizing is right there and they have templates for text available just for instagram. They have taken the guess work out and made is extremely simple. For people like us who are not educated in Media etc. this is a game changer. We don’t have a large organization so we can not afford to pay a Social media or online communications expert, we do the work ourselves. So keeping it simple is key.
Cons:
It would be better if multiple images could be shared instead of one by one. A more diverse set of graphics would be helpful. For example: basic icons for construction, church, Christmas would be helpful.
PicBasic
Comments: PicMonkey was one of the first free design editors I stumbled upon and I really liked it for the simple tasks I needed complete. I even sprung for the annual subscription just to have additional features. For a while, I would say it was the best of it's kind. However, new competition sprung up, and in an attempt to pivot to be more comprehensive, I feel that PicMonkey lost touch with why customers were using it in the first place. Others may appreciate the added changes, and those are people who are simply unaware that there are better choices elsewhere. Again, these changes are relatively recent, as PicMonkey's new iterations are still in beta testing, and maybe in the end it will be a more superior product than I'm giving it credit for. I just abide by the old saying "It's better to be a first rate version of yourself than a second rate version of someone else."
Pros:
One of the only reasons I still use(d) PicMonkey was the ability to quickly create a collage of photos and add some filters, text, stickers. The low subscription cost was attractive, and I figured if it saved me additional formatting time it would take to use PhotoShop, it would be worth the deal. It's done the trick for the past few years.
Cons:
The new BETA platform is a nightmare. PicMonkey had already been circumvented by other competitors offers free and easy design solutions like Canva, that allowed you to save and store your designs in the cloud. PicMonkey caught on and it trying to create a "hub" for design storage and a more sophisticated design platform, but in turn, they butchered what was once a simple and easy tool worthy of a low cost subscription in favor of cut rate imitator of more sophisticated platform. I won't be renewing when my subscription expires in January.

Fast, Efficient Slides
Comments: With PicMonkey I have been able to crop and collage photos, as well as add fonts and stickers to make many useful graphics for my business.
Pros:
This software makes it simple for the entry level user to identify different elements of editing and create wonderful slides and photo grids. There is a free trial version, but you can pay for a subscription for access to extra features. It saves work and makes it simple for anyone to use this. As a business owner who sells various products and also runs promotions, I find it a fast solution to make collages as well as sale flyers. You can also download your own fonts or backgrounds to use within the system or have access to a variety of others as well.
Cons:
I think this software would benefit from additional features, such as resizing photos easily, as there are times you are limited to the type of work you can do if your uploaded photo is not within the size parameters. I would also like to see more editing options, to retouch photos in more advanced ways, for facial perfection or to color certain areas on black and white photo easily.
Alternatives Considered:
Basic Filters for Simple Projects
Comments: It's easy to use, has tons of options, and isn't super costly. However, it's pretty basic, so if you want higher quality editing, I don't think it's worth it.
Pros:
I liked how many filter options there are, how easy it is to use, and how quickly it works. I used it mostly for photo editing with the filter options.
Cons:
The free trial is nice, but so so many features are paid. It's not super expensive, but if I wanted a good photo editor, I'd shell out for PhotoShop or something else. I just didn't think it was worth the money for our company.

Great Tool for Non-Designers
Comments: This is a great tool for non-designers. It does so much of the work for you with their templates and easy-to-use editing. I have saved money using PicMonkey since I am outsourcing less work to graphic designers now.
Pros:
PicMonkey is easy to learn and use. They offer numerous templates for a variety of work projects from social media posts to printed marketing projects to business card design. The platform is feature rich with a lot of different tools like textures, framing, and effects.
Cons:
Sometimes the platform can be slow when editing images. Although their email support is good, I would also like a call support.
PIC Monkey
Comments: I'm satisfied with the ease of use and different features for the price. I dont need support very much so I dont have to contact customer service just yet lol. My good friend has had a couple of times that she got no response at all.
Pros:
Picmonkey has alot of cool features such as, fonts, backgrounds, templates, collages, filters and a ton more! To much to mention hehehe.
Cons:
There is no phone support for Picmonkey. And email takes them 2 days to respond. And twice they disnt respond at all
Nice site for people who want graphic design layouts done for them
Comments: I used PicMonkey for a year but finances dictated that I needed to stop.
Pros:
Very easy to use. Lots of great templates and ideas for social media ads. Plenty of images and tools available.
Cons:
I don't have any complaints with it. I enjoyed using it very much and when I have the funds to continue, I probably will.

Used to be a lot better
Comments: I was making advertisements and photo collages for Facebook for a small jewelry business.
Pros:
I like that I can make fun photo collages and ads for the jewelry store where I work without paying for it.
Cons:
I feel like when I first started using PicMonkey you could do a lot more for free, and now you have to pay for it. Although at 7.99 a month it isn't too pricey if you're using it frequently.
Decent software
Comments: This was good for a quick design, but if you need advanced capabilities like making layers partially transparent or using custom fonts, it lacks those functions
Pros:
A moderate amount of features and easy to use for basic designs
Cons:
Lacks more advanced features provided by photoshop
Easy-to-Use Picture Editing with Tons of Features
Comments: With the help of PicMonkey, my blogs are more interesting and well-received. It has helped me to gain several hundred followers and make new friends.
Pros:
I blog, with lots of pictures. I tried to learn Adobe's picture software, and it was just way too much work for me. PicMonkey is mostly intuitive. There are two features I especially like: When all I want is to correct color, brighten, etc., I use the first option called "Auto Adjust." That usually does the trick and I am ready to export and post the picture. The second feature involves cutting something out of a second picture to add to the original. Just click on the "graphics" butterfly on the left side, then use the "add your own" feature. It will bring in whatever picture you choose from several sources and give you the option to erase anything you don't want in the picture, then place what's left where you want it in the original. Very nice. Additionally, there is a good collage section with lots of choices. I also like that a picture can be saved to PicMonkey to be changed again or added to a collage. They also have "Touch Up" and "Design" sections that I have not used.
Cons:
PicMonkey does not have drag and drop. It would be easier if they would add this feature because I am so used to doing things that way. I also wish that I could jump from Picture Editing to Collage without exiting first.
Make your photos stand out!
Comments: You can specifically edit your Facebook cover photo or even photos for intended Instagram posts with PicMonkey. Social media isn't going away anytime soon and it is fun to make your photos look the best they possibly can.
Pros:
There are many photo editing programs out there and I have certainly tried a lot of them. I have to say that PicMonkey is by far my favorite. It is a great program for beginners, or anyone who really hasn't edited photos before. You do not need any previous experience of photo editing to be able to use PicMonkey. I have an online business and I have used PicMonkey to create banners, crop and edit photos of my product, as well as add fonts. I love that you can import your own fonts. It allows you to make whatever you are creating much more customizable and to tailor it to your preference. The "Auto Adjust" feature works great to fix a photo that needs the color corrected or brightened with a single click. I use PicMonkey to create the flyer I put in each product I ship out and I have received some excellent feedback on the quality of the photos on this flyer. I use the collage feature specifically, allowing me to have the maximum number of pictures of different products for sale on a single page. I have been able to edit my photos from simple to eyecatching with this software. I have also used PicMonkey to edit family photos and upload them to create calendars. This past Christmas I created two calendars this way and they were great Christmas presents for my parents and in-laws.
Cons:
You only get a 7 day trial before you have to commit to purchase. Another con is that you can only upload or download images one at a time. If I am trying to upload multiple photos onto a template, there is no option to choose all 30 at once and I think they should fix this feature.
Great Cross-browser Platform for Photo and Image-editing Anytime and Anywhere!
Comments: Overall, PicMonkey is still a useful and great tool. For the untrained in graphic arts, it is going to be easy, fast to pick up with given tutorials and tips readily available within PicMonkey. You can work anywhere and anytime on any browser on any OS platforms without having to worry about compatibility issues on software and hardware. It should be a smooth ride!
Pros:
Personally, I had used PhotoShop and many other graphic tools. PicMonkey is one of them as well. I do find it a fantastic tool, second to Canva. (other more popular online graphic design tool) It also has got an affordable price point compared to Canva or Snappa. (another less popular graphic editing tool) If you don't want to invest too much on a heavy-duty program like PhotoShop that contains a lot of features, PicMonkey maybe a better alternative for you. It contains a slick and fast user interface to work with. It also has got less functions than PhotoShop, but it is easy to use and master the basics. Moreover, it offers great flexibility in terms of opening up images saving them from various storage media.
Cons:
PicMonkey offers only a miserable 7-day trial. I was hoping they would give us a longer trial period. At the least, a 14-day trial will be so much better. Well, freebies always come with constraints, I guess. And also that banner advertisements in the software interface that can distract your attention if you are using a FREE account. I also discovered that there is no upload of custom logos or graphics option in the software. As you will experience, anything that is designed to give you great productivity and ease of use, will limit your customisation needs and constrain your workflows and ideas. E.g. I found that moving and placing images are constrained by the nodes (points) of the selected object or text. It is not so free and flexible compared to doing the same thing in PhotoShop though.

Great marketing tool, easy to use!
Pros:
PicMonkey makes it easy for our small company to market and advertise. For someone who is not super marketing-savvy, I find this software very easy to use. The stock photos by type help to locate the type of photos that can be used in our marketing campaigns and the ability to duplicate and edit old posts make it easy to keep our brand style in tact to update quickly.
Cons:
I sometimes wish there were more fonts to choose from but we make due with what's available. Not many other negatives, although I'm sure there's much more I could be using in the software that I'm just not sure of since I don't have a background in marketing.
I couldn't get by without it
Comments: I could not get by without this program. I create graphics for multiple pen names and for clients and use this all the time. Totally sold on PicMonkey.
Pros:
This program is a must-have for my business. I use it to design marketing graphics, book covers, etc. I use it EVER. SINGLE. DAY.
Cons:
At one time there were lots of issues with the program having an error and losing my work, but that rarely happens now. Much improves performance and I'm a happy camper!
The Perfect Platform To Make Fabulous Images That Hook My Customers!
Comments: I love PicMonkey and have been using it for a few years now. IT is my go to and it has really upped my photo game as looking at my pictures when I begin 2013 as compered to now.... is crazy and it is a different quality and level of blog all together thanks to the tools that Pic Monkey provides me. I also love their tutorials that make it easy to even the technology challenged to create amazing pictures.
Pros:
I just love this platform and all that it offers. I recently upgraded as they have the colest tools to use to create amazing graphics and more that help to hook my readers in to read my posts, reviews and to enter my many giveaways.
Cons:
Nothing to say about this platform that is negative. The only thing that could make it amazing is if it were free but that would be crazy as for the small fee that I pay and all of the abilities that I have to create... make this a steal of a deal.
Create Dynamic Designs in Minutes!
Comments: I benefit from the ease of use, the time it takes to create a design, and the ease of retrieving the design from the app on my cell phone.
Pros:
This software is so easy to use! I am a novice and I like to design for our women's group social media page. (I'm a novice but I have some skills!) There are plenty of templates to choose from that are easy to customize. The alignment hints and grids make it easy to position your text or graphic. There are lots of overlays, effects, and text choices to choose from and they keep adding to it. I have only contacted customer service one, a year or two ago, to see when they may be adding a certain feature. They got back with me the same day and assured me that the feature I was looking for was in the works. And it was! The Hub makes it so convenient to save your work and come back to it where you left off. With the app on my cell phone, I can simply retrieve my graphic to post anytime. PicMonkey is my go-to graphic design software!
Cons:
I can't think of anything that I dislike about this software. However, when i owned a PC, the software did crash a few times. But that was probably my laptop and not the software. I've owned a MacBook Pro for several months now and I've had no issues.
Old version was better!
Comments: I have loved being able to crop, enhance, watermark via graphics, clone, and generally make my photos look professional despite being taken by an amateur using a simple point-and-shoot. This was all on the old version. The new version is complicated and I have given up on it.
Pros:
When I started using it years ago, it was SO user-friendly. I am not computer savy, and other free or paid applications were beyond my comprehension. After about a year with Pic Monkey, I upgraded to the paid version which gave me even more easy to use features. The old Pic Monkey is straightforward, easy to use, and does an excellent job for my hobby of photography and blogging. This is no longer the case...see cons.
Cons:
I absolutely hate the new version as it seems to be geared to two things: businesses, and those that have no creativity and want ready-made templates. I have tried the new version and could not figure out how to do the basic things I like to do, things that were so simple on the old version. It is no longer user friendly, and has far too many ready-made things that seem pointless. I am currently fishing around for other simple, low cost systems and will leave Pic Monkey once the old version is no longer available.
Pic Monkey is awesome!
Comments: My overall opinion of PicMonkey is positive! I have use the software hundreds of times over the course of the last couple of years and have found it very valuable to my business and marketing. As said above, I am able to quickly and easily edit my photos without the hassle of learning a difficult software. I also appreciate all of the presets that they have available; they allow me to fix the photo within seconds!!
Pros:
PicMonkey is super helpful when I am at home editing photos and using them for my website. I am able to quickly login and crop, resize, or reshape an image without the hassle of a more complicated software like Adobe Photoshop. I have used PicMonkey countless times to help me with marketing and growing my business and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to quickly and easily edit their content.
Cons:
The one thing I don't like about the software is that now they charge you per month to use their service. When I started using it, it was a free online service so when I found out there was a charge, it was hard for me to get accustomed to. I also don't like that there is no number to call for customer service. They responded to my email within a couple of days, but I was concerned that my billing questions would not be answered in a timely manner through email. They did prove me wrong, but it wasn't comforting knowing they may or may not respond.
Good alternative for social media graphics
Comments: Overall, I was pleased with PicMonkey. It's great for simple, quick social media projects and allows you to easily edit photos and create nice looking graphics if you don't have a designer on staff. Once I started working with multiple brands, I outgrew it.
Pros:
I like that the platform is relatively easy to use and has a pretty wide array of things you can quickly do to edit photos. It's simpler than Photoshop and definitely faster with less learning curve.
Cons:
There are limitations to the software, so it won't be a good fit if you're looking for high-end or print graphics. Also, if you're working with more than one brand, it would be helpful if the software had the ability to keep fonts and colors for each brand in a toolkit so they would be easily accessible. It doesn't have as good of a free option as Canva, either.
PicMonkey Keeps Getting Better
Comments: I love using Pic Monkey. I use it to design t shirts, e-book pages, photo shop photographs, social media graphics and more. It's much easier to use than a pro editor like Adobe Photoshop. You can't go wrong with a premium membership. You get access to everything!
Pros:
I have been a Pic Monkey user for a long time. They have transitioned with the changing times to offer more to their customers. I still love the opportunity to use the cloning tool in my photos. New feature I love is the transparent background for png images. The Best part of Pic Monkey is that everything on the site is available for commercial license use. I love this for creating items that I actually sell online.
Cons:
I had been grandfathered in to a lower price basic membership. For a long time a paid membership was the premium membership. Now I have to pay even more, to get all the features I want. But I am because I use Pic Monkey all the time. Pic Monkey is similar to Canva, but there are enough photography tools that canva doesn't have that make a premium membership at both desirable.
You'll get the image edited before Photoshop has even opened!
Comments: A great tool giving excellent value for money and saving me hours of time. Love it!
Pros:
Picmonkey is a great tool for photo editing and creating graphics. It's really quick to use and with a reasonable annual fee is one of my staple business tools. You can upload your own images, fonts and graphics or use the extensive library provided. Picmonkey is intuitive to use. The Picmonkey mobile app is also excellent and offers a few features that the main app doesn't yet support such as background removal. The photo editing features are amazing... blows the competition out of the water and let's you quickly correct that picture that would have been perfect if only you could remove the crumb of cake on your cheek etc!
Cons:
There are a couple of areas that Picmonkey is slightly behind the competition - they don't have as many templates as some of their competitors but the range they do have is good and this can prevent overwhelm! - They don't have the magic resize option that makes one image fit a range of social platforms.
Great stepping stone program if you don't want to buy Photoshop
Comments: I have been a long-time user. In the past few years, they have really amped up the features to allow for more photo customization. While this is a good thing, I think they are reaching a point where the tool is starting to get too complex. That said, I appreciate that they are listening to their customers and adding new features to make simple photo editing easier.
Pros:
PicMonkey has a lot of features. They used to be a simpler program, but have added more and more features over time while still remaining fairly user friendly. It isn't a program you can use for professional-level photo manipulation, but it does give you everything you need to create photos for your website. It's a stepping stone - more features than simply photo manipulation apps, but not as complex as Photoshop.
Cons:
They used to have a free version with access to some of the most basic features. Now, they have a free trial, but no free version. If you just need to do simple things like resizing and adding text to the photo, there are free apps that will get the job done.
PicMonkey is helping us to sort and contact our customers in e-commerce from Google etc.
Comments: It is effectivly helping us to sort and get new customers from our e-mail list.
Pros:
PicMonkey is helping us to sort and contact our custommers in e-commerce from Google etc. It helps to growing number of our customer conversation
Cons:
The Czech Localisation and Czech language would be of Use. But it is very simple and intuitive to use in sorting and messeging of our clients.
PicMonkey is a critical resource for my job
Comments: PicMonkey has helped increase revenues due to the click through rates I've achieved. It would have taken an inordinate amount of time to do this with other tools.
Pros:
Ease of use. Time to value. Pricing. Flexibility. My work with PicMonkey has helped me achieve outstanding click through results.
Cons:
I use a combination of tools. Often, I want to change colors. Although PicMonkey includes a color wheel, I use other tools to source the actual hex color codes. "Pink" just doesn't cut it for me when their is such an array and in my view, you need to be specific & get it right.
